Naomi Campbell, 52, Has Struggled with Infertility for Decades — She Claimed Her Baby 'Wasn't Adopted'

World-renowned supermodel Naomi Campbell struggled to conceive for years and underwent surgery to have a child. But she only had a baby in her early fifties. Since then, there have been speculations that there was no way Campbell could bear a child because of her age. She briefly addressed that.

In September 2008, English native Naomi Campbell revealed her desire to have children during a London Fashion Week fund-raiser. While at the event, Campbell disclosed that up until that particular year, she could not conceive.

However, the then-38-year-old divulged that she had undergone corrective surgery in March 2008 to have what appeared to be a cyst removed. However, the cyst turned out to be something more.

"I was not able to have children up until March. Now it's in God's hands. I would love to have a family," said the runway prodigy who began her modeling career at age 15.

In an interview with ES Magazine in May 2017, the businesswoman stressed her wish to have kids, sharing she had contemplated adoption previously. Campbell added children were a constant thought in her mind, saying:

"I think about having children all the time. But now, with the way science is, I think I can do it when I want."

When asked if she would like to have a baby naturally instead of adopting, she said "maybe." In terms of being a single parent, Campbell expressed that she would like to have a father figure in her future children's lives.

"I think it's important," she explained. Asked if her reason for wanting a parental partner was because she did not have a fatherly role model, the actress stated that it had nothing to do with that.

CAMPBELL ANNOUNCES THE ARRIVAL OF HER NEWBORN

In May 2021, Campbell delighted her fans when she announced on social media that she had welcomed a baby girl. She posted a photo holding her infant's little feet and tweeted that the shared "lifelong bond" with her new daughter was indescribable:

"A beautiful little blessing has chosen me to be her mother. So honored to have this gentle soul in my life. There are no words to describe the lifelong bond I now share with you, my angel. There is no greater love."

Celebrities and fans alike were excited about the unexpected news and showered the new mom with congratulatory messages on social media. Zoe Saldana wrote: "Oh my goodness, congrats, lady! What a blessing!"

Fashion designer Marc Jacobs commented that the mother and daughter duo was lucky to have each other: "Oh my God!!! How absolutely incredible. How lucky she is and how lucky you are. What a wonderful mother you will be. Blessings all around."

PEOPLE BECAME CURIOUS ABOUT HOW CAMPBELL HAD THE BABY

When Campbell made the baby announcement, she omitted details concerning how she welcomed the baby, leading the masses to perpetuate that she couldn't have had the child naturally at her age. In an interview with British Vogue's cover issue for March 2022, the trailblazer refused to comment on how she had her daughter:

"She wasn't adopted – she's my child."

Per the publication, Campbell is reportedly saving the nitty-gritty details for her memoir, which she has yet to begin. In addition to keeping mum about the arrival of her child, the mother-of-one decided to keep her baby girl's name private.

However, she did dish that only a handful of people knew she was planning to have a child. Campbell added how blessed she was to have her baby as she choked up while speaking about her:

"She is the biggest blessing I could ever imagine. It's the best thing I've ever done."

The proud mom said her daughter is "the boss," adding that she lives for her because she comes first. Campbell expressed that though she experienced motherhood at a late stage in her life, she was "grateful to God that I got to be a mom."

When talking about her daughter, the "Catwalk" star revealed that her little one enjoys traveling just like her. Campbell described her child as a good girl who sleeps well and rarely cries.

She touched on her milestones, sharing that she started waving, which was fun, almost started to talk, and laughed quite often.

Campbell said her daughter might begin to walk before crawling at her growth rate. The first-time mom added that the youngster already had six teeth and praised her for being a trooper.

CAMPBELL'S ADVENTUROUS LIFE AS A MOM

The Victoria's Secret Fashion star shared that she knew she would someday become a mother. Her daughter is a globe-trotter just like her. The pair go everywhere together. Asked where they live, the doting parent exclaimed: "We're world citizens!"

But Campbell did acknowledge that the endless traveling would eventually slow down once her child begins with school. The leisure of flying around the world has been made easier with Campbell's "amazing" nanny, whom she hired on the recommendation of a close friend.

With the arrival of her baby, Campbell is living life through her daughter's eyes, admitting that she felt like a child again as she relived childhood memories:

"I'm like a kid again. I'm reliving nursery rhymes, playing, and discovering how many great new toys there are out there in the world!"

Campbell revealed that her bundle of joy loves music boxes and enjoys exploring shapes, textures, and colors. The little one also has a unique closet filled with designer clothes from Chanel, Versace, and Alaia.

When asked about the most significant takeaway since becoming a mom, Campbell said, "My daughter comes first. Everything I do, I do for her – that's it." When asked if she would like to have more kids, the "Empire" alum stated, "Why not?"
