The Hollywood veteran has been with her husband, Martin Von Haselberg, a performance artist, since the 1980s. Together they have created a fascinating story, reaffirming that true love lasting the test of time can happen while enjoying fame.

At 35, Sophie is already a famous actress and producer noted for "Irrational Man," "Equity," and "American Crime Story." In 2020, following the pandemic, she experienced a lifetime transformation, changing from a Miss to Mrs. when she married Harry Guinness.

DETAILS OF THE WEDDING

On June 6, 2020, the "Irrational Man" star married the love of her life, Guinness, in a very home-themed and modest wedding. But Sophie kept the entire ceremony a secret until nearly two weeks later.

The actress updated her fans with the news of her marital status by sharing a simple yet lovely photo. Although there was no unique photoshoot, the image showed the newlyweds in an exciting atmosphere in their kitchen.

In this post, the groom wore a black suit and a white shirt and was playfully engrossed with his bride. Fans could see Guinness holding a piece of cake while Sophie was in an unconventional yet colorful wedding dress.

The attire paired beautifully with a conspicuous scarf dangling across her neck. Sophie rocked a huge smile, revealing the cake that was stuck in her mouth, which had also smeared on her face.

What accompanied the hilarious wedding photo was an unusual string of words expressing happiness and confidence in her decision to marry at such a time. The caption read:

"In the midst of COVID… and the power and poignancy of the Black Lives Matter movement, I got married! Because honestly, WHY NOT. It's great to have cake smeared on your face by someone you love!...do I love this man!"

A year later, Sophie shared more details about her wedding during a heart-to-heart conversation with TODAY at the Hulaween charity event.

The actress explained it was an in-house affair with few guests, including family and close pals. However, she reiterated that their marriage was encouraged due to the Covid-19 outbreak. According to her:

"We really had not been planning on getting married. We just we decided to do it when COVID hit because all of a sudden, the realities of what the world is today really rained down upon us. So it was eleven people. It was teeny, teeny tiny."

For the intimate ceremony, the bride and groom were blessed to have all hands on deck, from family members to friends who joined in planning a successful wedding.

Everyone involved opted to do something they were perfect at, and without hiring any wedding planner, it turned out to be a special and memorable party for the bride. The cooking was teamwork, as father and daughter figured out the menu.

Additionally, the bride's mother picked out the flowers, the groom focused on getting the best wines, and two of the couple's friends partnered to organize the perfect ceremony. While reminiscing the moment, Sophie gushingly remarked:

"It really just felt like a really fun dinner party which to me is exactly how I would want anything to feel. It didn't feel like this lavish thing. It just felt really cozy and lovely and loving."

WHAT DID BETTE MIDLER SAY ABOUT HER DAUGHTER'S WEDDING?

It is evident that the veteran actress and her husband approve of their daughter's choice; after all, they excitedly planned the intimate wedding.

Following her daughter's post, "The Politician" star gave more insights into the amazing ceremony. First, Midler explained how the couple managed to pull off their wedding despite the pandemic. In her words:

"It was a pandemic wedding, a very small wedding, and her husband, her new husband, hasn't had a haircut in three months. So she looked online on how to cut hair and she gave him a pretty good haircut."

Having held on to the same marriage for more than three decades, it was not surprising that Midler possessed an inner eye to spot a happy marriage. During the same interview, the mother-of-one revealed that her daughter would have "a great time" being married.

She went on about how the couple is like-minded, adding that they sing, laugh, and dance, maintaining positive energy and creating a joyful atmosphere. Midler confessed that her daughter's marriage is assuring, claiming that:

"They both do and they are very joyful together. So it gives me a lot of happiness, tremendous happiness."

Irrespective of her experience, Midler decided to allow her only child and husband to figure out the best way to live their lives.

She expressed that the reasonable decision for every mother-in-law is to step back and not play the all-knowing parent.

So far, Midler's mini-me is enjoying marital bliss and has not been in the news for anything controversial about her marriage. So it is safe to say that she may fashion her relationship with Guinness like her parents'. Thankfully, they have set a good example!
