In November 2017, when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement, many people were ecstatic, including the Duke of Sussex. The pair had been dating for over a year, and Harry already considered Markle an added member of the Royal Family.

During a 2017 interview with ABC News, shortly after his engagement news went public, Harry confessed that he saw the former actress as another team player.

He hoped that when Markle finally became a member of the Royal Family, they would carry out royal engagements together and try to encourage the younger generation.

"I know that the fact that she'll be unbelievably good at the job part of it is a huge relief to me because she'll be able to deal with everything else that comes with it. But, no, we're a fantastic team," Harry told the outlet.

Markle saw the idea of carrying out royal engagements with Harry as exciting. She was ready to give up her career to be with the Duke. The former actress said she did not consider it as giving up her career but as a change. According to Markle, it was worth it as it would give her a bigger platform and voice to help people.

Even though the Duchess of Sussex was excited about becoming a Royal Family member, Harry still had to sit and talk with her about the responsibilities that would come with him being her husband. However, despite it being a big deal, Markle was down for it. According to Harry:

"At the end of the day, she chooses me, and I choose her. And therefore, you know whatever we have to tackle together or individually will always be us together as a team."

The Duke of Sussex believed in his future wife, noting that he thought Markle was capable of anything. For the lovebirds, their focus at the time was making sure that their relationship would always come first, which they proved when they decided to step down from their duties as senior working members of the Royal Family.

Harry's departure from the Royal Family and moving with Markle and their kids to Los Angeles stunned the world. This is because it was the complete opposite of the Duke's words about remaining in the UK and carrying out royal engagements with his wife.

However, despite how the public and Royal Family Members felt, Harry did what he thought was best for him and his family. In December 2020, nine months after their big move, a source close to Harry and Markle revealed to ET that the couple had no regrets about their decision.

The source also noted that the couple "felt rewarded by their work." It was further revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had no plans of returning home, even though the coronavirus pandemic was at its peak.

Since the lovebirds relocated to California, they have made the headlines many times, especially Harry. He has been in the public eye as he tries to adapt to life away from the Royal Family. Many have noticed a change in the Duke of Sussex's way of life, one of whom is Royal Expert Tina Brown.

Brown believes that the Duke's change in personality is due to his need for emotion and Markle's heavy impact on him. According to the royal expert:

"He's so emotionally needy that he's been completely and utterly taken over by Meghan, and his whole personality has changed."

"It's really a sad thing to a great many people. Meghan seems to answer some huge needs in Harry, and it seems like they are in a powerful co-dependency. And I do question how it will end," she added.

According to Brown, Harry might wake up someday and realize he is living in goop and needs to get out, go down to the pub and see his friends.

It is no news that Harry, Prince William, and Prince Charles are in an estranged relationship. There are many reasons behind the trio's terrible bond, but Harry and Markle's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey significantly widened the rift.

Despite being spotted together during occasions like Prince Philip's funeral and Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, the rift remains unmended to date. However, Tina Brown is optimistic that there will be reconciliation when the Queen dies. In Brown's words:

"My feeling is that when the Queen dies, it's going to be so seismic that it will really make everyone say, 'Enough, enough! We must only think about the monarchy and what's important.'"

Furthermore, the royal expert mentioned that the Duke of Sussex would want to return to the UK at that point. According to Brown, Harry will not want to be in California when the rest of the world is mourning.

"I think he will feel enormously left out and sorrowful if he can't play a part in that, and I think it will behoove Charles and William to use that moment to get him back," Brown added.

Besides feeling like Harry would want to return, Brown said she believed that Markle and the Duke of Sussex might have a commuter arrangement. However, she did not see the Duchess returning to the Royal Family as Markle disliked England.

Whether or not Harry and his wife reconcile with the Royal Family when Queen Elizabeth dies, what many desire is that, in the end, they settle their differences and work towards the betterment of the people and the world.
