Sharon & Ozzy Osbourne's 40-Year Marriage Survived Attempted Murder, His Fling with Their Cook & a Split
Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne's decades-long marriage has endured attacks and countless infidelities. However, to this day, the pair are still going strong even amid health woes.
TV personalities Sharon Osbourne and Ozzy Osbourne first met in 1970. Sharon was an eighteen-year-old then, and she and the singer-songwriter only started dating in 1979.
Her father, Don Arden, had initially managed Ozzy as part of the metal band Black Sabbath. Exactly nine years later, Arden fired Sharon's future spouse from the music group.

That was when the red-haired decided to manage Ozzy, leading them to develop a romantic relationship. "The Osbournes" stars tied the knot in Hawaii on July 4, 1982, and later welcomed three children, daughters Aime, Kelly, and son Jack.
Things between Sharon and Ozzy went downhill in 1989 when he attacked her at their home. She pressed the panic button, and law enforcement officers soon arrived on the scene.
The "Paranoid" singer had attacked his wife while under the influence of drugs and, consequently, got arrested for attempted murder.
Ozzy spent six months in medical detention amid his struggles with substance abuse. Sharon later revealed in the "Biography: Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne" documentary that he became a completely different person right before attacking her:
"I had no idea who was sat across from me on the sofa, but it wasn't my husband."
"He just said, 'We've come to the decision that you've got to die,'" she recalled before the incident occurred. Either way, Sharon later expressed relief that Ozzy received some help and chose to remain married to him.
Thirty years after the attack, Ozzy reflected on the incident of harming his spouse, saying it was not one of his proudest moments in life:
"It was not exactly one of my greatest achievements. All I remember is waking up in Amersham jail."
The lead vocalist revealed that he asked one of the police officers why he was there, and the cop read him his charge, telling him that he got apprehended for trying to kill Sharon. Ozzy hinted that everything was foggy when trying to remember what happened that day.
CHEATING SCANDAL AND SPLIT
After overcoming that obstacle, the couple's marriage was rocked by a cheating scandal in 2016. Ozzy had cheated on Sharon with multiple women. Us Weekly reported in May 2016 that Ozzy allegedly had an affair with celebrity stylist Michelle Pugh. According to the insider, the former "The Talk" co-host learned about the infidelity by tracing her husband's emails.
Taking action, Sharon broke up with Ozzy after 33 years of marriage. "I honestly, at this point today, have no idea what I'm going to be doing with the rest of my life," she said.
The author confirmed their split on the May 10, 2016, episode of "The Talk," saying that she kicked him out of their abode. E! News reported that the duo reached a mutual agreement that Ozzy would temporarily move out. However, he returned, leaving Sharon to find refuge away from their marital home.
Sharon previously disclosed that her spouse had cheated on her before. In March 2016, she revealed on the chat show that she caught Ozzy in bed with two nannies. The mother of three openly talked about the affairs in September 2017, telling The Telegraph:
"There wasn't just one woman; there were six of them. Some Russian teenager then a masseuse in England, our masseuse out here [in Los Angeles], and then our cook."
Regardless of the breakup, the two got back together in July 2016. Us Weekly reported that the lovebirds had "fallen in love again" and that they salvaged their union through therapy.
Later that month, Ozzy confirmed that he and Sharon rekindled their relationship and were "back on track." Notably, a month later, he admitted that he was unfaithful in his marriage and had been struggling with sex addiction for six years.
Dubbed the Prince of Darkness, Ozzy later told "Good Morning America" that the experience was part of life's mistakes and that he learned from them.
In April 2013, rumors swirled that the pair were divorcing, but Ozzy quickly shut them down on Facebook while admitting that he had relapsed. The "Crazy Train" singer mentioned that he had been drinking and taking drugs the previous year, adding he mistreated his family.
Ozzy explained that he had been sober for 44 days at the time, stating, "Just to set the record straight, Sharon and I are not divorcing." He publicly apologized to his wife, his family, band mates, and the fans for his behavior.
After reconciling with Sharon, the couple renewed their wedding vows in Las Vegas in May 2017. Ozzy told Hello! Magazine that it was a ceremony he would never forget:
"For me, this was actually our real wedding day. This is the one that I will remember. Sharon and I have been through so much, and this honestly feels like a new beginning."
REGRET AND SUPPORT
In an exclusive interview with GQ in November 2020, Ozzy expressed deep regret for cheating on Sharon when asked about things he regretted doing in his life. He said he had done some wild things before and was remorseful for his various infidelities. The English native noted that he was no longer doing that:
"I got my reality check, and I'm lucky she didn't leave me. I'm not proud of that."
"I was pissed off with myself. But I broke her heart," said Ozz. He mentioned that he was embarrassed by how his behavior affected his family, adding that it was a relief that his wife was beside him for support.
Meanwhile, Sharon acknowledged that it would take time to trust Ozzy again but explained that he worked hard to redeem himself to become a better man for his family. She said that they had been together for too long, which was why she could not imagine life without him, "I just can't think of my life without him."
In turn, Ozzy was there for her when she had to exit "The Talk" in March 2021 after her controversial defense of Piers Morgan. The musician defended his wife in an episode of "Ozzy Speaks" on SiriusXM, saying Sharon is not racist, adding that she was "devastated" after being accused of making racial remarks.
Moreover, Sharon reflected on their intense fights in September 2021. The British native told the Daily Mail that she and Ozzy used to beat each other but that the behavior stopped twenty years back.
The couple has gone through a rollercoaster ride through the years, including a health issue at some point. In June 2022, Sharon revealed that her husband would be undergoing a "major operation" that could be life-changing. Ozzy had to remove and realign pins in his neck and back, and his wife later told fans that he was recovering from the surgery.
Ozzy and Sharon have managed to keep their volatile relationship going for years. The duo celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on July 4, 2022.
Both parties paid tributes to each other on social media, where Sharon said that she and Ozzy were "soulmates." On the other hand, Ozzy posted a throwback photo of the couple on their wedding day, wishing his wife a happy anniversary.
