Jon Gosselin Expressed Worries for His ‘Isolated’ Kids after Son Begged to Be Saved from ‘Militant’ Mom Kate
Jon and Kate Gosselin and their eight children have been household names for quite some time now due to their television shows. However, few people know the dark truths behind the family's drama. In 2018, the family was in the headlines again due to one child moving in with his father.
Jon and Kate got married in 1999 and, soon after, started trying to have children. They welcomed twins Cara and Mady in 2000. Fans met the family when they exploded onto the scene following the birth of their sextuplets, Alexis, Collin, Joel, Hannah, Leah, and Aaden in 2004.
While the family appeared happy onscreen in the first season of their show and their ratings climbed with each episode, all was not well behind closed doors, and in 2009 the family started to fall apart.

The tensions began to build soon after Jon and Kate renewed their vows in 2008 in Hawaii. In early 2009, it was rumored that Jon had been unfaithful. A month after these rumors surfaced in the news, Kate filed for divorce.
It was becoming apparent on the show that the pair could not agree on how to raise their children, and by May 2009, just before their separation, Kate was revealing her doubts on their reality series, saying:
“Parents of multiples have triple the divorce rate. I was thinking we were going to beat that. I don’t know if I can say that anymore.”

COLLIN ONCE ASKED HIS DAD FOR HELP
While fans of the show were shocked and saddened when the reality series went from "Jon and Kate Plus Eight" to just "Kate Plus Eight," there was much more drama to come. Jon and Kate's son, Collin, has also made shocking claims against Kate and the way that she has raised her children.
Jon and Kate's son, Collin, was sent to a special needs institution in Philadelphia by his mother. Jon claimed that Kate made this decision because she found it challenging to handle their son. However, Jon received letters from the Department of Human Services (DHS) alluding to the fact that Kate was abusing Collin.
Collin also sent his father letters asking him to help him escape, while his father said he was caged in the institution. Jon and Collin revealed that during the three years the child spent in the institution, his mother only visited him three times. Jon described his son's treatment as "inhumane" and eventually removed him from the institution in 2018.

Jon was granted full legal custody of his son in December 2018, after which he began living with his father full time. His father revealed that he thought the transition would be easier if he moved straight from the facility into his home. However, Collin was not the only Gosselin child to want to be in their father's care rather than their mother's.
Jon and Kate's daughter, Hannah, also lives with her father. Jon has expressed his desire to have all of his children together, though. He has said that he wishes all of his children could "hang out together" because they live close to each other.
While Jon wishes for his children to spend more time together, he has revealed that he believes all his children lack social skills. He told The Daily Mail UK that:
“They've been isolated so much and they haven't been taught those life skills.”

He alleged that this was because Kate was so controlling and didn't allow her children to develop essential life skills because she wanted to do everything for them. He also expressed concern at the isolation that Mady, Cara, Alexis, Leah, Joel, and Aaden, the children who still live with their mother, have experienced.
Jon believes that being seemingly cut off from the real world will inhibit their abilities to take on difficult situations like "college or an environment that's not suitable to white-collar demographics."

Although Hannah and Collin are happily living with their father, Jon says he does not have much contact with his other children. However, Jon has revealed that as long as his children keep in touch with each other, he doesn't mind if they don't talk to him.
Jon's daughter, Cara, said that she wouldn't know what to say to her dad if she were to have a conversation with him, while Mady shared her views, saying:
”He makes it seem like we’re being kept from him, which is insane.”

She further expressed: "He should maybe spend some time thinking about why we don't want to see him, and maybe realize that if he ever wants a relationship with us, talking about us on TV is not the way to make that happen."
JON'S FINAL RELIEF
Following the couple's divorce, among the many grievances he had, Jon believed that Kate had pushed him away from his children. He revealed:
“[Kate] alienated me from those kids. I think it was a poor parenting decision. It would’ve been much better if she would have been more open with them and explained things better.”
He has now made it clear that he doesn't have a good relationship with the children that don't live with him because of this. Jon has also said that after concluding all custody battles with Kate, he finally feels able to move on.
Now that all the children are adults and he has his own businesses, the father-of-eight told Page Six:
“There’s no more custody court. It’s over. We are done today. It’s over. This weight has been lifted off my shoulder. It is just a big relief.”
Jon revealed that Hannah and Collin walked away from fame and money to live with him permanently and he respects them for that. He also said that while he has tried to build a relationship with other children, he gets nothing back, so he focuses on the two children who live with him now.
