'FBI' Star Missy Peregrym Announced Career Break to Take Care of 2nd Child Who She Birthed in Water
While her career onscreen is exciting, "FBI's" Missy Peregrym has ensured that her personal life is even more enjoyable. The most intriguing event happened just before she announced she was taking a break from her career.
The actress initially married Zachary Levi in secret, but their marriage quickly dissolved, and she returned to using her surname. The pair were only married from 2014 to 2015 and shared no children. The couple stated that the reason for their split was irreconcilable differences.
However, Peregrym wasted no time in finding love again, and by 2018 she had met and married fellow actor Tom Oakley and began a family with him almost immediately.

While the divorce was a difficult time for the couple, Peregrym seemingly had a sunny disposition toward love, as just after her split from Levi, she posted a quote by Maya Angelou, saying:
“Who am I to live like God is unable to heal my wounds, redeem my circumstances and love me enough? Normal? I choose to receive; I accept. … Have enough courage to trust love one more time and always one more time. Maya Angelou.”
Just one year after the happy couple tied the knot, she gave birth to their first child. Two years on, the couple has expanded their family by two tiny feet, and fans and fellow stars are excited by the news.
News of the couple's latest addition to the family was met with delight. However, the birthing practice that Peregrym employed to bring her daughter into the world is rarely seen, especially by celebs.
MARRYING OAKLEY
Peregrym and Oakley tied the knot on a Sunday in December 2018. The news of their marriage broke in the New Year of 2019 via an Instagram post by Peregrym showcasing their wedding photos.
From the photos, it is clear that while the wedding was a formal way of declaring their love for one another, it was a laid-back event for the couple as they wore sneakers and struck a cute pose in one of the photos.
The wedding was enjoyed by all in attendance, and a source close to the couple confirmed that they kept things casual for the wedding and focused more on their love for one another:
“It was an intimate and fun evening shared with family and close friends,”
The couple's ceremony and reception were so relaxed that even their dog was a big part of their wedding celebrations and was included in the post revealing their marriage as Peregrym signed it "Love Tom, Missy, and Charly."
WELCOMING BABY OAKLEY
Less than a year after the couple said "I do," they announced that they were expecting their first child together. The news was again broken via Peregrym's Instagram page, where she shared a photo of three pairs of shoes, one pair being a child's.
The post was met with good wishes from fans and other stars alike. Their first child, Otis, was born in March 2020 and has, up until now, been an only child. Recently, though, he became a big brother.
In February of 2022, Peregrym revealed that she was expecting her second child with Oakely through a video of her first child, Otis, playfully smacking her baby bump. She then revealed what she thought of being a mother:
“Working full time while breast-feeding is the most challenging task I’ve ever taken on. I’m still sorting out all the changes in my life. But the joy of him poking my eye is totally worth it.”
Peregrym made it clear that being a working mother was not easy but that she was happy to do it while Otis was young. However, with the birth of her daughter, she has decided to focus more on family than before.
Although Peregrym loves her job in "FBI," she has revealed that now is the time for her to spend time with her husband and her children before her children grow up, which is precisely what she plans to do.
PEREGRYM GAVE BIRTH IN WATER
While Otis was delivered traditionally at a hospital, Peregrym decided to take a slightly different route when giving birth to her second baby, Mela. Mela was born at home and was delivered through water birth.
Peregrym revealed that it was a profound experience as birth is usually all about the baby, but having a water birth at home meant she was cared for, supported, and loved throughout Mela's birth.
The emotional post was filled with all of Peregrym's thoughts on water births as opposed to hospital birth and also with many thanks to the people who assisted her during the delivery, including the professionals.
She mentioned that she had her best friend beside her throughout her daughter's birth, which gave her the strength she needed to bring her daughter into the world. She said:
“She turned down work to be with us, choosing to share in the transformation of our family, which she is a part of. I feel loved.”
The star also thanked her husband for "stepping up" and allowing her to do what she needed to do to feel like she could be present for the entirety of her daughter's birth. She then revealed the exact details of her break from work.
Before mentioning how grateful she was to be allowed to take time off work to be with her family, she said that while "FBI" would be back on screen soon, she would not be back as yet.
The post contained her short terms plans for the future, revealing that she would be off-screen for a while longer yet and would only return in September, saying:
“@fbicbs is starting up again in a couple weeks, but I will be returning to work in September. I’m relieved and grateful that I am afforded the space to bond with my family, to rest and heal and be a mother”
We wish the Oakely family nothing but love, health, success, and happiness for their future as they navigate life as a family of four.
