High School Bully Robs Boy’s Allowance Daily, Years Later Begs for Alms From the Same Boy– Story of the Day

If Billy Ferguson was known for something, it was bullying innocent kids at Sunrise Valley School in Ohio to the point that they were in tears.

A week ago, Billy had found a new target. He was an innocent boy named Kevin, who could barely win against his declining grades, let alone his bully, who was older and stronger than him.

Billy found out from his peers that Kevin's family was impoverished and struggled to make ends meet. That's all. That was enough for him to devise his perfect plan for bullying Kevin. And he did it for the first time during the school lunch hour.

"Hey, loser!" Billy mocked Kevin in the school corridor. "Don't you know who I am? Give me the lunch money you got on you!"

"What? No," Kevin's eyes welled up. "Billy, I'm starving. Please, I didn't even have breakfast today."

Billy and his friends laughed. "Oh, that's just heartbreaking!" He smirked, feigning a sad face. "It's not like you'll die if you don't eat! Get the money he has, boys!" Billy ordered his friends.

The boys searched Kevin's pockets and took away the allowance he'd gotten from his parents. Kevin begged them tearfully to leave him alone and not take his money, but the bullies didn't spare him.

While Kevin was glad that he hadn't run into them, he wondered why they had disappeared. And it wasn't long before he found out that Billy and his friends were expelled for poor grades.

"Oh, no!" Kevin thought to himself when he learned about it. "If I don't study well, they'll kick me out too, and mom and dad will suffer more. I can't let this happen…." he promised himself.

From that day on, Kevin paid more attention to his studies and tried to do his best at school. Not that he showed drastic improvement right away, but eventually, his hard work bore fruits, and he excelled at his academics.

Several years passed in this manner, with Kevin focused on himself and his goal, determined to make it big in life. After high school, he received a scholarship to a prestigious university and later bagged a good job after graduating.

But Kevin wanted something different from life. He wanted to start his own business, so he worked hard to build one instead of working a 9 to 5 job.

When several of his ideas failed, he was on the verge of giving up, but he decided to give it one more shot, and it worked. Kevin established a healthcare company after years of hard work.

One day, Kevin was on his way home after work when he noticed a man shivering in the cold outside his office building. If it hadn't been for something about the man's appearance, Kevin would have just walked past him.

He came to a halt in front of the man and couldn't believe his eyes. He was sure he recognized him, even though the man's face was carved with lines and he appeared frail, unlike in the past. How could he not recognize him? It was his school bully, Billy!

"Sir," Billy begged him, his head bowed. "Would you be kind enough to give me some money for food? I haven't eaten in a while."

Kevin could have turned away and left if he wanted, or he could have berated Billy and exacted his revenge on him, but his heart went out to him instead.

"Billy? Is it you?" he asked, although he knew he wasn't mistaken in recognizing him.

Suddenly, the man looked up and started to cry. "Kevin? I can't believe this! It IS you. I'm very sorry for how I treated you... Could you please get me something to eat? I've been starving!"

Kevin reached out his hand for him to hold. "Sure, Billy. There's a restaurant nearby. Let's get you something."

As the two walked to the nearby restaurant, Kevin got some hot chicken broth and sandwiches for Billy. The way Billy pounced on the food as it arrived made Kevin realize that the man hadn't eaten in days, if not weeks.

"So Billy," Kevin eventually said. "Don't get me wrong, but what happened to you? How did you end up on the streets?

Kevin sighed and set the food down. "I now realize it's all because I mistreated you, Kevin. I'm paying for my sins...

"After I was expelled from school, my parents stopped supporting me. I was left to fend for myself and things did not go well. Then my parents died, and I got involved in the wrong stuff, squandering everything I had.

"Now I sleep wherever I can find a spot to sleep and eat whatever I can find in dumpsters. Thank you for the food. I haven't had such good food in a long time..."

Kevin thought carefully for a bit, his gaze rarely leaving Billy, who had stuffed his mouth with food yet again.

"I have an offer for you," he said suddenly. "I can hire you as a security guard at my company if you're prepared to give your life another shot. You'll have decent pay, and you could start over...." he suggested.

At that point, Billy started to cry again. "But why would you do this? How can you be so nice when I was such a jerk?"

"Maybe that's how I am? And also because I wouldn't have been encouraged to study harder if you weren't expelled for terrible grades! I can say it was kinda like a motivation for me ... Anyway, none of that matters now; it's all in the past. So, when can you start?"

"TODAY," Billy replied without hesitation. "I - I can start today! I will forever be grateful to you for this, Kevin! Oh, thank you!" he cried.

As of now, Billy is working as a security guard at Kevin's company and trying his best to get his life back on track. Life taught him that extreme pride and arrogance wouldn't lead him anywhere.
