There are many opinions on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's relationship, from supportive to disapproving; even the prince's brother was concerned about their love. However, Harry and Meghan have ignored the opinions.

Meghan and Harry met in early 2016 and had a whirlwind romance that culminated in their marriage in May 2018. Although the couple was madly in love, Harry's brother, Prince William, was concerned.

William, who waited years before proposing to Kate Middleton, felt that his brother was moving too quickly in his relationship. This opinion resulted in a confrontation between the brothers in late 2016.

Harry wondered whether or not his brother was concerned about his happiness or about "The Firm," which William will one day lead. However, for Harry, Meghan is the love of his life.

Aside from the fact that William was concerned that Meghan would not fit into the royal family well enough because she had not been trained on the correct behavior to exhibit, he also had other concerns about his brother's relationship.

One of the things that William was concerned about was that he was "blinded by lust," causing him to rush the relationship with Meghan. He also referred to Markle as "this girl," Harry was offended as he found the words condescending.

William felt that while his brother was happy with Meghan, he should have gotten to know her for longer before proposing to her. William advised Harry to do his due diligence in getting to know Meghan, saying:

“Take as much time as you need to get to know this girl.”

The book "Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War between the Windsors" by Tom Bower revealed that Harry turned to the maternal side of his family to establish Meghan's place within the monarchy.

THE FAMILY DID NOT THINK MEGHAN WOULD FIT IN

Harry decided that his best course of action would be introducing Meghan to his mother's side of the family. He wanted to introduce her to his aunts so they could see that she was much like his late mother.

However, William intervened again, which led to the prince's uncle, Charles Spencer, getting involved in the feud. Although Harry had hoped that his aunts would see the similarities between the late Princess Diana and his new love, this was not the case.

His aunts could not see the similarities that Harry saw and didn't think she was suited to royal life. Harry was disappointed by this news, especially since he had already proposed to Meghan.

Charles voiced his opinion at William's request, saying that he thought Harry should not rush into a marriage, something he knew from having been married three times. Again, Harry did not heed the advice.

Harry was bitter toward those not accepting Meghan and understood that it would take a lot to establish her as a family member. However, the couple had other concerns that had nothing to do with her place in the family.

Another concern that the couple had to contend with was financial stability. Although Prince Harry received 1.5 million pounds annually, Markle was advised to continue acting to make up the rest of their salary.

However, this was easier said than done for Meghan. Upon speaking to her agent, Nick Collins, the actress found that her acting prospects were few and far between since she became the wife of a prince.

According to the book "Finding Freedom," the conflict about Meghan's place in the family and the couple's financial predicament eventually led to what has been famously dubbed as "Megxit."

"Megxit" refers to Harry and Meghan deciding to step down as senior working royals and move from the United Kingdom to the United States to escape the negative press associated with their marriage.

HARRY AND MEGHAN ARE STILL HAPPILY MARRIED

Despite all the opinions the couple has encountered since falling in love, they remain steadfast in their relationship. Harry and Meghan have not let the outrage at their relationship get in the way of their love.

In a recent speech by Harry at the UN General Assembly for Mandela Day, he publicly declared his love for his wife and called her his "soulmate." He also honored the African continent, admitting:

“It's where I felt closest to my mother and sought solace after she died, and where I knew I had found a soulmate in my wife.”

While it is obvious what the former part of the statement refers to, the latter part alluded to a time when Harry and Meghan traveled to the continent together and spent some time alone for the first time.

Harry revealed that he convinced Markle to join him on a five-day trip to the African country of Botswana, where they spent uninterrupted time together. Harry said that he decided that Meghan was his future bride on this trip.

He spoke of their time together in the country, revealing that it was when they truly got to know one another on a deeper level that led to them falling in love. He said:

“So then we were really by ourselves, which was crucial to me to make sure that we had a chance to know each other.”

Although Harry's family believed he was rushing into his relationship with Meghan, he thought it was some kind of divine intervention that led to them falling in love so quickly.

Harry found no issue in the fact that he and Meghan had a quick courtship and got married after knowing each other only two years. In fact, he reveled in the knowledge that everything had worked out for the couple.

He revealed that they were a "fantastic team" and thought that over time they would have a significant impact on the things they cared most about. He also said:

"The fact that I fell in love with Meghan so incredibly quickly was confirmation to me that all the stars were aligned,"

The prince asked Meghan to be his bride one night as they were cooking dinner at home in Nottingham Cottage, despite his family's caution. The couple has been happily married since 2018 and has welcomed two children together, son Archie and daughter Lilibet.
