THE LITTLE GIRL NEEDED URGENT HELP
Ezra, 8, enjoyed watching clips on the internet. However, he never imagined that one of the videos would equip him with life-saving intel.
Initially, the mother was confused by her son's actions because she didn't think he knew the correct procedure.
The proud big brother was enjoying an ordinary day at home in 2022 when something terrifying happened. His three-year-old sister, Naarah, needed help.
She had been enjoying her spaghetti while her mother, Meg St-Esprit, was busy doing dishes in the kitchen. A few moments were enough for the situation to escalate, leaving little Naarah in a tight spot.
THE BIG BROTHER ACTED QUICKLY
Fortunately, Ezra was close by when his sister started choking and holding her neck. It was evident that she was struggling to breathe, and with every passing second, the situation became worse.
While many other kids would've missed the signs or taken extra time to find help, Ezra assisted his sibling instantly. Equipped with the knowledge he got via the Inside Edition YouTube channel, he sprung into action.
HIS ACTIONS SAVED HER LIFE
The eight-year-old boy performed the Heimlich maneuver and dislodged the spaghetti blocking his sister's airway. Ezra shared:
"I saw her eyes were getting red. I knew she wasn't okay, so I just came up behind her and she choked out a lot of stuff."
Once the food was out, the family checked to see if the little girl was okay. She was doing well, and they didn't even need to visit the doctor or hospital.
THE MOTHER WAS STUNNED BY HER SON
Initially, the mother was confused by her son's actions because she didn't think he knew the correct procedure. She explained:
"When he first put his arms around her like he's gonna do the Heimlich, I was like 'don't do that, you don't know what you're doing.'"
However, Ezra couldn't stand by while his sister was struggling. He knew he needed to help, and thankfully he did. The mom's confusion soon turned to joy, and she was proud of how her son saved the day.
MEET ANOTHER LITTLE HERO
In 2021, another little sister needed urgent help. The 20-month-old toddler from Hazleton, Pennsylvania, was enjoying a meal of chicken nuggets when disaster struck.
Little Lelia Demsey couldn't breathe, but fortunately, her big brother was in the backseat of the car with her. She wasn't coughing, crying, or panicking, but Jaxson Demsey knew his sister needed help.
The eight-year-old told his dad to stop the car before he started with the life-saving technique. He shared:
"We were driving to my haircut, and I noticed she was starting to choke from a chicken nugget from McDonald's. I told my dad to pull over. Then I [started] to pat on her back, and it got out."

THE DAD WAS PROUD OF HIS SON
Jaxson learned how to save someone who was choking thanks to "The Substitutes," a show he watched on Nickelodeon. The youngster's dad was immensely proud of his son's quick thinking and added:
"He amazes us every day. We're simply blessed to have the child that he is, the things that he does for his family, his friends, for his little sister. He's a good big brother."
Sometimes help can come from places and people you least expect. In this case, the heroes were little boys who saved their sisters from possible tragedy. We take our hats off to them and encourage others to follow their example.
