In an episode of "Broad Ideas with Rachel Bilson," Tommy Dorfman revealed that she was engaged to a woman. Tommy Dorfman is not only an actress, but she is a writer, director, and photographer, who graduated with a degree in acting in 2015.

She became famous when she starred in Netflix's "13 Reasons Why." Despite growing up in Atlanta, Tommy Dorfman shuttles between California, Los Angeles, and New York City.

After graduation, she has been on the cover of various magazines and ad campaigns for fashion houses and has worked in film, theater, and television.

The actress who recently revealed that she was engaged to a woman said being in love was scary, uncomfortable, and painful. She was previously wed to Zurkuhlen, and they tied the knot on November 12, 2016.

In February 2022, news broke that Dorfman's now ex-husband had filed for divorce. The filing showed that the couple had been separated since June 2021.

Zurkuhlen prefers to keep a low profile but became famous after he married Dorfman. He attended South Carolina's The Calhoun Academy and was born on February 19, 1988.

But he then relocated to Kentucky and enrolled at the liberal arts school Centre College. He enrolled at the International Culinary Center in New York despite having a bachelor's degree in Spanish language and literature, earning a certificate in food services management.

Zurkuhlen is a man of many talents. He had worked as an assistant to Norton Center for the Arts director before becoming a strategy and sales associate at Thomson Reuters.

He was also the head volleyball coach at The Calhoun School for two years. After he left the school, he became a real estate agent.

In 2017, he founded a technology company called ChipChop Systems. The company develops and licenses retail and restaurant order fulfillment technology.

In 2019, he joined the technology company, Get Help, where he works as the deputy to the CEO in the position of the Chief of Staff. The company aims to create solutions and revolutionize the healthcare industry.

In 2020, he started working as a freelancer as a programming board member at StartOut, a nonprofit organization aimed at empowering LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs through events, mentorship, and access to capital.

The couple met at their mutual friend's housewarming party long before Dorfman starred in "13 Reasons Why." They started dating and got engaged in April 2015 before marrying the following year. However, in 2021, Dorfman revealed that she was redefining her relationship with her husband.

In early 2022, TMZ first revealed that Zurkuhlen had filed for divorce in a Los Angeles courtroom after more than five years of being together.

In July 2021, during an interview with TIME's Torrey Peters, Dorfman revealed that she had been living and identifying as a woman for a year and was reintroducing herself to society after transitioning medically.

During the interview, she also talked about the need to redefine her relationship with her ex-husband. Dorfman revealed that the types of relationships she sought changed with her transition.

The actress said she was in a nine-year relationship with a gay man, where people saw her as a more male-bodied person. She further stated:

"I love him so much, but we've been learning that as a trans woman, what I'm interested in is not necessarily reflected in a gay man."
