Facts about Hulk Hogan’s Daughter Brooke: A Look into Her Life
From being an actress and musician to having a brief WWE career, Hulk Hogan's daughter, Brooke Hogan, has proved to be a woman of many trades.
Brooke Hogan was born on May 5, 1988, in Tampa, Florida; the actress and producer, amongst other traits, is the older sister of Nick Hogan and is of diverse ancestry. Brooke is also related to Elisabeth Röhm; they share paternal great-grandparents Peter Bollea and Edith Medora Noonan, which made Brooke and Elisabeth second cousins.
Over the years, Brooke tried her hand at different trades; she appeared in various films and TV shows such as "School of the Dead" and "Glow"; she released music, made an appearance on WWE, and was on her family's successful series "Hogan Knows Best."
Brooke Is Daddy's Girl
Despite her progressing career in music and her unstoppable presence on reality TV, Brooke took a step back from the spotlight and focused all her energy on new endeavors. It had been years since Brooke had released songs, and she spent her time fine-tuning her music before getting back into the booth.
And after receiving online abuse about her looks, she tried redefining beauty standards. Brooke received negative comments from social media users on her facial features, her muscular physique, and her height. Brooke tried to remain body-positive and said:
"I love my body. Thick or not, I'm firm. I don't have cellulite. I'm happy with how I am."
Brooke acknowledged that being the daughter of a wrestling superstar meant she was born with muscular genetics and grew to be 5'10. When the father-daughter duo wasn't training their bodies at the gym or on bike rides, they enjoyed getting fish tacos and spending quality time at the beach.
Brooke had always been a daddy's girl; her father made headlines for various reasons, including his released sex tape and his high-profile lawsuit against Gawker Media for invasion of privacy. Gawker Media released Hulk's intimate videos and eventually settled for $31 million in 2016.
Brooke stood by her father's side throughout the controversy and said the lawsuit "led to something positive" that would help protect other people in the future. During the difficult time, she reminded the public of what a "great" father he was:
"Everybody messes up...Don't judge someone for sinning differently than you do."
Interesting Facts about Brooke
Brooke's close bond with her father was why she chose his side during his divorce from her mother, Linda Hogan. Brooke and her mother garnered a reputation for butting heads over the years, dating back to their 2009 fallout when Brooke said she felt "betrayed" after her mother spilled the beans about her daughter's breast augmentation surgery.
During their divorce, Linda was also dating someone her daughter's age. Despite their rocky past, Brooke still chose to maintain a relationship with her mother. After Brooke's dog went missing, Linda participated in the search and often posted tweets about her daughter.
Another relationship in Brooke's life that did not lead to a reunion was her engagement to NFL player Phil Costa. After months of dating, the Dallas Cowboys player popped the question, but Brooke was reportedly the one to call things off when she felt things were moving too fast.
Brooke also dated fellow singer Aaron Carter; after their breakup, Hulk made threatening comments toward his daughter's ex-boyfriend. Brooke reportedly said Aaron was "disrespectful" whenever he engaged with the Hogan family.
Brooke took time away from romance and chose to focus on her career; after two released studio albums, the last in 2009, Brooke had not released music in over a decade. She continued to do live performances and tried to get back into the music industry with new projects.
She followed in her father's legendary footsteps and tried to make a name for herself in the WWE ring. She booked wrestling conventions and pitched a Daughters of Wrestling concept in 2016 that would see Brooke, Teal Piper, Lacey Von Erich, and Brittany Page start their promotion.
When she signed up with TNA Wrestling to work alongside her father, Brooke formed a friendship with Dixie Carter, the former TNA President; the friends would spend time together in Nashville.
Outside of wrestling, she made moves on the big and small screen. In 2017, she was announced as the host of "The Fashion Hero," which Brooke said was similar to "Top Model" but featured "real people":
"So it's taking the pressure off of fitting into that box of 'I have to be stick skinny, and I've got to be this way.'"
Brooke also had roles in "Sand Sharks" and "2-Headed Shark Attack", shark-related horror movies; most of her works were secondary films released straight on DVD or cable. After the success of her family's show, "Hogan Knows Best," Brooke landed her spin-off on VH1.
The network was said to have invested much time and money into Brooke's show, "Brooke Knows Best." And in 2017, she revealed she was working on a "top secret" project with women she has grown up with, Roddy Piper's daughter and Kerry Von Erich's daughter, on something that was "empowering women."
A Daughter's Love
After his divorce, leaked sex tape, and a lawsuit, Hulk made headlines again for spewing racial slurs. He repeatedly used the N-word during his leaked sex tape and in a 2012 radio interview with DJ Whoo Kid.
He was fired from WWE and had his name removed from the franchise's website. His attorney spoke on his behalf and extended an apology to all of Hulk's fans, asking for "forgiveness and understanding."
Brooke also defended her father with a creative twist- via a poem. The poem, "If You Knew My Father," was released under Brooke's birth name, Brooke Bollea, and shared that her father had a "tender heart" and never had any intention of hurting his fans. A photo collage accompanied the poem that further read:
"If you knew my father, you would know how hard he fought … and the way it brought a smile to people light, medium, and dark."
Hulk Hogan also released a public apology, expressing the importance that no one should be treated differently based on race. He said he was disappointed with himself, and the language that he was using was not in any way reflective of his beliefs.
