She had half a mind to tell the boy off. But being his mother, Monica understood the pain the tantrum-throwing child had been masking.

With nowhere else to go for the night, the mother and son took a taxi to the place they had called home for four years — Monica's parents' house. Luckily, they had a few days to spend in the old house for the last few days before its sale went through.
