Today, Kidman is in a happy marriage.
"Aquaman" star Nicole Kidman was formerly married to Hollywood's beloved actor, Tom Cruise. At the time, the famous couple was the talk of the town.
Expectedly, everyone, including their fans and the public, wanted to know the intricacies of their romance. However, while reflecting on her time with Cruise, the Australian-American actress confessed that the constant watch affected them slowly.

Nonetheless, she clarified that they were deeply in love and felt safe with each other. While describing her side of the romance, Kidman admitted that she existed as her husband's wife and not herself. In her words:
"I felt I didn't deserve to be there in my own right, and so throughout I wasn't there as Nicole — I was there as Tom's wife."
Kidman claimed she depended solely on her former spouse, making their relationship seem like a fairytale to her and the outside world. She had gotten married at age 23, beginning her life rather early as a "naive and impulsive" young woman.
The "Eyes Wide Shut" star explained that they had been in a bubble and that when it exploded (when they hit the rocks), it was challenging to face reality. She mentioned that it took her a while to heal, as it was a shock.
While the world saw a perfect union as well as Kidman, she endured "massive grief" almost as soon as she became a wife. At 23, the "The Big Little Lies" star was ready to become a mother; following their marriage, she said:
"From the minute Tom and I were married, I wanted to have babies."
Unfortunately, the former couple lost their first child due to an ectopic pregnancy. But some publications reported that the actress miscarried her child. Years later, Kidman clarified that she did not suffer a miscarriage during her first pregnancy, emphasizing that it was erroneously reported.
Following their loss, the movie stars decided to try another alternative to create a happy family. So they adopted two kids, a daughter, Isabella Jane, born in 1992, and a son, Connor Anthony, born in 1995.
How the Church of Scientology Alienated Cruise and the Kids from Kidman
Cruise, who has remained a loyal believer of the Church of Scientology, adopted their kids through the church—they had been born by parents who could not afford to nurture them.
Interestingly, Kidman's second chance at love is the real perfect and happy union. The pair married in 2006 and began a family two years later when they welcomed their first daughter, Sunday.
But before Kidman had time to enjoy motherhood as she desperately yearned, her marriage with Cruise became strained. According to Mike Rinder, a former member of the Church of Scientology, their divorce was largely due to Cruise's devotion to the faith.
Rinder explained that while the couple filmed "Eyes Wide Shut" in 1997, Cruise was consumed with work that he barely had time to speak to the church's head, David Miscavige.
This became scary to Miscavige, who had constantly reached out to the actor via the telephone. So he appointed Marty Rathbun to "audit" Cruise.
This involved walking the actor through his life's occurrences to relieve what they termed negativity. It did not matter whether it was a person or a job.
Ultimately, Miscavige was concerned about getting Cruise back to the faith. They noticed that he was spending too much time with his wife while working.
To the Scientology head officer, Kidman was a threat to returning Cruise to his initial beliefs. Although Kidman had been introduced to the church, she did not display the same devotion as her former husband, plus her dad was a psychiatrist, so there was every chance that she questioned their beliefs.
With Kidman not being a strong believer and Cruise possibly losing his way, Rathbun decided to monitor the actress's influence by hiring "infamous PI Anthony Pellicano to spy on Nicole and tap her phone," Rinder claimed.
As if that was not enough, the author alleged that the church alienated the kids from their mother and turned them against her through L. Ron Hubbard's teachings of Suppressive Persons. This implied that a suppressive person is considered an enemy of the church and must be silenced or annihilated.
Unfortunately, Cruise served Kidman divorce papers a few years after their 1997 film; at the time, the Australian-American star had just suffered her first and only miscarriage with their second child. Still, it did not stop the divorce; they became officially single in 2001. According to Rinder:
"When Tom and Nicole divorced, Miscavige was happy that the 'negative influence' of Nicole was no longer dragging Tom away. Cruise thereafter became more fervent in his vocal public support of scientology and Miscavige."
After the divorce, the kids stayed with their father and remained church members. But on the other hand, they were truly disconnected from their adoptive mother.
Kidman Blames the Church
In a 2006 interview conducted by actress Leah Rimini, a former member of the church, Bella admitted that her mother is treated as an SP and that she did not get the chance to relate with her.

Oddly enough, this was true, as Kidman was not only labeled an SP but treated as one. Despite being the adoptive parents of Bella and Connor, Kidman was not involved in their lives, following the church's rules.
She was not invited to her daughter's wedding in 2015, even though she was in the same city where Bella was getting married.
Sources also claimed that Connor will follow in his sister's footsteps and will likely not invite his adoptive mother to his wedding with his fiancée, Silvia.

Reportedly, Kidman blamed the church for the detachment between her and her children; she also believed they were responsible for her divorce from Cruise.
But despite her convictions, she remains a loving mother, ready to receive her kids. In an interview, the actress revealed, "they have made choices to be Scientologists, it's our job as a parent to always offer unconditional love."
Kidman Is a Biological Mother and Wife Today
After being in the shadows for about a decade, as Cruise's wife, Kidman was lucky to get another shot at love. When she met award-winning country singer Keith Urban, she was mature and knew what she wanted in life.
Kidman claimed, "I met him later in life, and it's been the best thing that's ever happened to me." She gushingly added, "that man is the best thing that's ever happened to me."
Interestingly, Kidman's second chance at love is the real perfect and happy union. The pair married in 2006 and began a family two years later when they welcomed their first daughter, Sunday. In 2010, their youngest, baby Faith, joined the family.
More than once, the "Aquaman" actress confessed that she had been blessed with her husband, with whom she has shared sixteen years of her life, creating long-lasting memories.
Although she mentioned her wish to have a larger family, Kidman is genuinely fulfilled with what she has now and has learned to count her blessings now and then.
