'One in a Million' Mom of 4 Dies at Home on a Couch Next to Her 3-Year-Old Daughter
It was a usual day for a British mother of four who was supposed to pick up her children from school. Her family discovered something shocking after the school phoned her husband that their kids were still waiting for their mother to take them home.
After having babies, most parents dedicate their lives to taking care of their little ones. They go above and beyond to make their children feel comfortable and provide them with the best of everything.
The mother in today's story had the same feelings for her four kids. She made sure her babies never had to face any problems, unaware that she wouldn't be able to see them grow up.
The Young Mother
Nicole Barnes lived with her four children and partner, Craig Galloway, in their Huyton, England, home. Everyone knew Barnes as a loving mother who always wanted the best for her babies.
The 29-year-old mother had a five-year-old kid with special needs, Tom, and faced difficulty getting him into school. However, Barnes didn't give up and eventually gave Tom everything he needed.
Tom and his siblings, ten-year-old Niamh, seven-year-old Scott, and three-year-old Delilah, always saw their mother caring for them to ensure they were doing fine. Little did they know that their mom would soon close her eyes forever.
The Daily Routine
Like every other day, Barnes had to pick up her children from school on October 3, 2022. According to her daily schedule, she collected little Delilah at 11:30 a.m. from her nursery, returned home, and had to pick up the other kids later.
Soon, Galloway received a call from his children's school informing him that they were still waiting for their mom at school. Barnes didn't reach school on time to pick up her kids.
Since this was something that had probably never happened before, Galloway was worried. Minutes later, Barnes' friend, Gemma, entered her house and found her lying on the couch beside Delilah.
Bad News
When Gemma looked at Barnes closely, she realized the mother of four was unresponsive. Gemma immediately performed CPR on Barnes while waiting for the paramedics to arrive.
It was heartbreaking to see the little girl do something "she shouldn't be doing."
Soon, the first responders entered Barnes' home and tried to resuscitate her to no avail. Barnes had already passed away, and when they looked at her front door camera footage, they concluded she had been lying unresponsive for about two hours.
Shocking Demise
Barnes' sudden death shocked her family and friends because she had no medical complications. Everyone knew her as an "amazing mum" and didn't expect her to pass away so soon. Her cousin, Kim Jowett, said:
"She was one in a million."
"
. It is so sad she has lost her life and left her four poor babies behind," Jowett
. She looked up to Barnes because she considered her cousin a better mother than herself.
The Fundraiser
Jowett also said that no one ever said a bad word about Barnes. The late mother always won everyone's hearts and made them smile. To help Galloway during the difficult time, Jowett set up a GoFundMe page to raise more than $22,000. She said:
"She [Barnes] was a kind, loving, beautiful person who just wanted the best for her kids."
As of October 12, 2022, people have donated more than $30,400, which will help Galloway manage his finances while he stays home to look after his children.
The Devastated Family
"It is unbelievable how sad her mum Dawn and her dad Tom are," Jowett revealed. She also shared that Barnes' eldest daughter, Niamh, is looking after her younger siblings as her mother did. It was heartbreaking to see the little girl do something "she shouldn't be doing."
While the cause of Barnes' death remains unknown, her friends planned to host a "fundraiser cup" on October 15 on the King George V Playing Fields in Huyton. They aim to raise money through the event for Barnes' children.
The Comments
Besides Barnes' friends and family, netizens also felt terrible after learning about her untimely demise. Here are a few comments they left under Daily Mail's post:
"So very sorry for her family and her remaining children! It is very sad what some mothers and their families have to endure in life. It isn't easy!"

Losing a parent is something no child deserves. Our thoughts and prayers are with the friends and family of Barnes as they mourn her death. We pray her partner and babies get the strength to bear the irreplaceable loss.
