Jared Padalecki and Wife Genevieve's Relationship Timeline: Inside Their Marriage That's Still Going Strong

Jared Padalecki and Genevieve Padalecki have been together for a long time. Jared Padalecki's wife recently enjoyed working with him again on TV in an exciting drama, in addition to being happily married and raising a family.

Actor Jared Padalecki rose to prominence for his iconic performances in the "Gilmore Girls" and "Supernatural." The latter show, in which he played Sam Winchester, was the one that brought Jared into instant stardom.

"Supernatural" also made it possible for him to meet the woman who would one day become his wife: his former co-star Genevieve Cortese Padalecki. The couple continues to enjoy a successful marriage and a flourishing career in show business.

In the fourth season of "Supernatural," Genevieve played a demon named Ruby. She first met Jared on the set of the dark-fantasy series in July 2008, when she was filming a scene in her underwear.

Jason, still single at the time, admired his co-star's beauty. Jason felt excited when he first engaged Genevieve in a conversation, but he thought it was a bad idea because he interrupted her while she was reading a book.

As the former teen actor got to know his co-star better, he became very attracted to her. In the fall of 2008, Jason took her out to lunch for their first date after knowing her for four months.

Unconventional Proposal and Wedding

Jason proposed to Genevieve in October 2009 in front of her all-time favorite painting, "Joan of Arc" by artist Jules Bastien Lepage, at the Metropolitan Museum of Arts in New York City.

Jason sought permission from Genevieve's stepfather and her two brothers before surprising Genevieve with a proposal. The couple kept their engagement a secret from everyone.

After publicly announcing their engagement in January 2010, the pair tied the knot in February of that year in a beautiful Winter wedding ceremony in Genevieve's hometown of Sun Valley, Idaho.

The couple spent their honeymoon in Machu Picchu, Peru, an unconventional destination for a newlywed couple like them. However, they made the most of it and had a fantastic time there.

Genevieve, who spent five days in Peru's most famous tourist destination with her husband, said they love hiking and camping, which led them to book the trip without putting much thought into it. She added:

"We found comfort in humor, each other, and a mutual dirtiness that stymied your typical honeymoon romance."

Jared and Genevieve Start Their Family Life in Texas

The power couple relocated to their new home in Austin, Texas, providing ample space for all their animals, including their dogs, chickens, miniature horses, vegetable garden, and bee hives.

Jared said they loved chickens and kept a flock on their property. Meanwhile, Genevieve noted that they also have a taxidermy decor of chickens inside their home to "honor" their departed fowl.

Not only did the longtime pair enjoy the presence of farm animals and beehives on their large property, but they also enjoyed the slow pace of living in Austin, which Jared described as "special."

Jared and Genevieve Become Parents

Jared and Genevieve welcomed their first son, Thomas Colton, in March 2012. Before their child's birth, Jared had requested fans to donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital instead of sending gifts.

In December 2013, they welcomed their second child, Austin Shepherd. Overjoyed at the new milestone, Jared revealed on Twitter that his "amazingly strong" wife had given birth at home.

Jared Leaves Everything to Spend Time with His Family

Jared has realized how important to step away from work and spend time with his loved ones. In a 2015 interview, he said he was only 17 when he started working, and that mindset of working a lot had changed since having a family.

He canceled public appearances without prior notice, noting that his family was in "urgent and desperate need." He also abruptly exited another event. At that time, his manager explained that Jared was "suffering from exhaustion."

Jared took a break from work and spent time with his family over the summer that year. Jared said of his productive time with his wife and kids:

"And it was the best thing I've ever done. I'll probably do it every year."

Jared and Genevieve Meet Their Daughter

Odette Elliott, Genevieve and Jared's third child, was born in March 2017. With the birth of the baby girl, Thomas and Austin have become big brothers with the responsibility of taking care of their sister.

Genevieve shared a heartfelt message on Instagram and an intimate picture of herself cradling Odette, featuring two heart-shaped tags bearing the girl's name and birthdate.

Since 2021, the longtime duo has been starring in The CW drama series "Walker." Jared portrays the main character, Cordel Walker, a Texas ranger, and Genevieve plays Emily Walker, the ranger's wife.

Genevieve recently opened up about working on set with her husband. She stated that it was exciting to share scenes with him on screen and, at the same time, challenging for them because of the emotional moments they had to go through their characters.
