Chelsea Bannatyne loved her life with her partner Gary Kerr. The Scottish nail technician never imagined she would receive heartbreaking news from her doctor when she was only 23.

As a young and healthy woman, she imagined a future filled with a family of her own. However, medical professionals revealed something unexpected and the news left Bannatyne devastated.

She Had a Feeling Something Was Wrong

Like many women, Bannatyne wanted to have children. After speaking with her friends and realizing how easily and quickly they had fallen pregnant, the Glasgow resident decided to visit her doctor.

She was not trying to have a baby, but her intuition told her something might be wrong. The doctor's tests were inconclusive, so Bannatyne was referred to a specialist, where she got the dreaded answer she feared most.

Bannatyne became "obsessed" with trying for a baby and she took various pills to this end. The hopeful mom also took multiple pregnancy tests but the results were always negative.

She Lost Her Purpose

Despite Bannatyne's suspicions that something might be amiss, the confirmation of her infertility was gutwrenching. She expressed her feelings of sadness and heartbreak after receiving the life-changing news.

Bannatyne recalled that she was in a terrible place mentally and emotionally. She added:

"My heart ached for the future. I felt like I lost my purpose as a woman, and I didn't know how anyone would want to be with someone that wouldn't be able to give them a family."

The Woman Gave up All Hope

Bannatyne couldn't believe she was showing signs of menopause in her early twenties. The revelation that she could not fall pregnant made her desire to be a mom much stronger.

In 2020, Bannatyne had given up hope of welcoming a baby. She decided to focus on herself and changed her mission to making memories and enjoying her life as a young woman.

Taking a Pregnancy Test

When Bannatyne's new partner, Kerr, came into the picture, she played open cards with him from the start. He knew about her infertility struggles and accepted them, still happy and excited to pursue a relationship with her.

By October 2020, the couple celebrated five months together and had no idea their lives would change forever.

Bannatyne recalled having a "weird feeling," so she decided to take a home pregnancy test. She didn't tell her partner because she was certain the test would be negative.

Welcoming Her Miracle Baby Boy

Bannatyne burst into tears and became very emotional when the test revealed she was pregnant. Kerr came to check on his partner and couldn't believe his eyes. Bannatyne added:

"We were both in total shock. I didn't believe it was real until I saw the baby on the screen and heard the heartbeat."

Doctors confirmed the miraculous pregnancy. They couldn't explain it but suspected it had something to do with her menopause which appeared to be "premature temporary menopause."

After four years of being off contraception, Bannatyne conceived a baby entirely naturally. She was terrified but excited by the significant development, and on June 22, 2021, she gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Layke.

He Completed Her Life

While the mother initially had to process feelings of shock, she soon realized her child was a blessing. She believed everything worked out as intended and couldn't be happier. The mother shared:

"He's an amazing baby and got such a great little character."

Layke completed Bannatyne's life, and her world now revolves around her miracle child. She said: "I just can't believe he is here after accepting that I'd never be able to have a baby naturally."
