Sean is one of the five children their father, Jesse Swayze, had with his wife of 38 years, Patsy Swayze. He has two brothers and two sisters, all of whom were close to their father, who was described as a loving giant.

Sean currently resides in California after he moved from Houston, where he grew up. The younger brother of a famous Hollywood actor, he made several appearances on movie sets as a driver.

Sean Kyle Swayze Was Born in Texas

Like all his siblings, Sean Swayze was born in Houston, Texas. He is the fourth child of Jesse "Big Buddy" Wayne Swayze and Patsy Swayze.

The family lived in Garden Oak, close to the beautiful Candlelight Wood area of Oak Forest. The massive residential area in the northwest of Houston had been created in 1947 to cater mainly to World War II Veterans.

Although it was a rural setting, it was just ten miles from the center of Houston. The area was safe and ideal for raising a family. The Swayzes owned a two-story house on Del Norte. Sean Swayze lived there with his family throughout his childhood and teenage years.

His Father's Passing Was Hard on Sean

Jesse Swayze's death in 1982 left many of his family members devastated. The father of five was adored and loved by his children and the little girls at the dance studio, who saw him as a brilliant paternal figure.

His death came when Sean was 20 years old. Sean was away from home when he died, but all his siblings had gathered by their mother's side. Thinking that his family had already gone to the mortuary when Sean returned, his first stop was the mortuary; hence, he was the first to see his father's embalmed body.

He was devastated by the sight as his father looked like another man after all the makeup. When he finally got home, he told his brother, Patrick, about his horrible experience. This made Patrick go to the mortuary with a comb and hairspray to make their father more recognizable before their mother saw him.

Sean Worked on the Set of One of His Brother's Films

Although not an actor like his brothers Patrick and Don, Sean Swayze experienced the demands and pleasure of working on a movie set. In 1998, Sean was hired as part of the transportation department for the movie, "Letters from a Killer."

He worked as a driver, and the movie starred his brother, Patrick, as Race Darnell. While filming, Patrick suffered multiple broken bones, including both legs, and damage to his shoulder. Sean also accompanied his famous brother on the set of the 1998 movie, "Black Dog," as his driver/bodyguard.

There was some drama in the family several years after Sean's older brother, Patrick Swayze, died of pancreatic cancer at age 57 in 2009.

Sean's Niece Expressed Her Displeasure Regarding the Sale of Patrick's Legacy

There was some controversy in the family several years after Sean's older brother, Patrick Swayze, died of pancreatic cancer at age 57 in 2009. A year before his death, he had rewritten his will and given his wife of 34 years, Lisa Niemi, the property.

Eight years after his death, Niemi decided to auction many of his personal belongings. This was against the wishes of Patrick's family, and his niece, Don's daughter, Daniella Swayze, demonstrated her displeasure with the auction by setting up a petition to stop the sale. In the description of the petition, she wrote:

"Please help me stop Lisa before she gets rid of memorabilia that has no right or reason to be sold, YOU CANNOT PUT A PRICE ON MEMORIES! My father, Don, and Uncle Sean deserve to have these sentimental items, please help Lisa find the heart she once had!"
