Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were once Hollywood's biggest couple; they got engaged in the summer of 2005 and announced they were expecting their first child that fall.

A few days after Holmes gave birth to their daughter Suri, Cruise had an interview with ABC news and gushed over his new child.

He told ABC news that the birth was smooth and their daughter was beautiful and healthy. He also said the entire experience was powerful and spiritual.

While Holmes was pregnant, Cruise revealed he purchased an ultrasound machine because he wanted to see his child whenever he wanted.

It does not get more luxurious than that. BBC News reported that the machine cost $200,000, and Cruise planned to donate it to a hospital once he was finished using it.

Cruise wanted to track his child's development, but he did not reveal the sex of the child until they were born. He was just happy to see the little fetus grow into a human.

Cruise is known for being loyal to his Scientology faith; however, once Holmes stepped out of the religion, it started to cause problems in their relationship.

Their marriage came to an end in 2012 and an Us Weekly source revealed that the "Mission Impossible" star had not been seen with his daughter since 2013.

According to the publication, the divorce and custody battle between Holmes and Cruise was reportedly not easy. Moreover, Cruise was allowed to see his daughter ten days a month but chose not to.

Scientology critic and former editor-in-chief of The Village Voice, Tony Ortega, speculated that Holmes might have had to sign a nondisclosure agreement to get full custody of her child.

Holmes has not opened up about Scientology, but Ortega believed that Holmes was told not to say anything bad about Scientology for full custody of her daughter in return.

The actress reportedly also distanced herself from her long-time friend Leah Remini who was allegedly part of the church from the age of nine.

US Weekly stated that Remini publicly announced her exit from Scientology in 2013 and has been vocal about some of the problematic ways of the church.

Therefore, Ortega suspected that Holmes distanced herself from Remini to avoid anything that would jeopardize her custody of her daughter.

Remini also came forward and revealed that she was not allowed to "have a meal" with Holmes because she would have lost custody of Suri. The actress called the whole thing "sick."

Remini met Holmes when she was still part of Scientology, and at the time, she realized that the actress was heavily immersed in Cruise's life, which made things look rosy from the outside.

However, without saying too much, Remini told the New York Post that she understood why Homes had to fight for her daughter.

Regarding Cruise's distanced relationship with Suri, Remini suspected that the actor was waiting until his daughter was older to convert her to the Scientology faith.

According to Hollywood Life, Holmes started dating her new boyfriend, Bobby Wooten, in April. The couple made their first red carpet appearance at the "Tribeca" film premiere in June.

Hollywood life also revealed that Holmes had already introduced Wooten to her friends and family, but the most important approval was her daughter's. Additionally, an ET source explained that Holmes did not want her daughter to find out about the relationship from tabloids.

It was important to Holmes for her daughter to get an authentic look into her relationship before the media spun it around, continued the ET source.

According to a close source of the mother and daughter, Suri absolutely loves Wooten for her mother. The source said he treats Suri like an adult, which she likes.

The source explained that 16-year-old Suri understood what love was and what a healthy connection between two adults looked like, so she was mainly happy to see her mother thriving.

Additionally, the source revealed that Suri and Wooten had built a relationship with which the 16-year-old's mother was comfortable.

Wooten has reportedly become a regular in the Holmes household, but the source praised Wooten for the fact that he respected the actress's relationship with her daughter and did not try to compete with it.

Holmes has come out of highly publicized relationships in the past. Her romance with Jamie Foxx was always in the media, and she shortly dated Emilio Vitolo.

Holmes just starred and directed the 2022 film "Alone Together," which follows two strangers booked in the same rental and forced to quarantine together and confront their feelings for one another.

The actress had her 16-year-old daughter sing one of the film's soundtracks, "Blue Moon." When asked what made her cast her daughter, Holmes told Yahoo Entertainment that she always looks for the best talent, and her daughter is very gifted, so it was only fitting.
