Liam Neeson ‘Fell in Love’ after 13 Years of Hoping to Hear Late Wife — He Turned Off Her Life Support
"Taken" star was indeed taken when he met his soulmate, Natasha Richardson. The duo promised to be together until death and enjoyed sixteen years of marital bliss. Sadly, following a tragic accident, Liam Neeson became a single father, but after thirteen years, he claimed to have found love again.
Liam Neeson was somehow a charmer when it came to the ladies. He metamorphosed from being one of Hollywood's most eligible bachelors to becoming a happy married man.
It all began after he fell head over heels for co-star Natasha Richardson, whom the actor described as a "very, very attractive" woman. The duo had worked together on the Broadway show "Anna Christie'' in 1993.

At the time, Neeson, a 40-year-old, had garnered a reputation for being a Hollywood bad boy. In addition, he was famous for dating high-profile women.
On the other hand, his co-star, Richardson, was married to producer Robert Fox, so it did not seem like the best time to begin a romance, but it happened.

Neither of them stopped the emotions when it began to build. But, then, fate smiled on Neeson as Richardson's marriage to Fox was headed for the rocks. The actress revealed:
"Working with him, what happened between us, and that becoming public knowledge in conjunction with my marriage falling apart, was kind of bad timing. So what can I say? Obviously I fell very much in love with him."
The co-stars developed a genuine bond from working on-stage. Movie critics and fans recognized their chemistry. Their performances also earned them Tony nominations.

While recounting his time working with Richardson, the actor confessed, "I'd never had that kind of an explosive chemistry situation with an actor or actress. We had just this wonderful kind of free dance on stage every night. She and I were like [Fred] Astaire and [Ginger] Rogers."
Despite the connection, Neeson took things slowly until Richardson confronted him about their relationship. Then, when she turned 30, he sent what she considered an unromantic letter.

The actor scripted some words and claimed it was from his character, Oskar, from "Schindler's List." While this did not evoke laughter in the receiver, her response stirred him to define their relationship. He said:
"That was when I knew I really loved this person."
The actor thoughtfully decided that it was a feeling to be protected. So a year after their co-starring on stage, they sealed their fate, to be together until death. Their wedding ceremony was celebrated on a farm upstate New York.

Following their wedding, they planned on starting a family and, a few months later, welcomed their first son, Michael. The following year, they added another, Daniel, to the mix.
Despite being parents as fast as possible, the couple remained committed to their marriage, honored their vows, and remained content with their careers. Richardson, whose mom was a British actress, Vanessa Redgrave, juggled motherhood and acting.

She was also as devoted as her husband to the marriage and wanted the best for him as he did for her. During their years together, the couple made a pact, promising that if any of them went into a vegetative state, the healthy spouse would pull the plug.
The Tragic Accident That Changed Neeson's Life Forever
In 2009, after sixteen years of marriage, Neeson lost his other half, the woman he thought would be by his side forever. This tragedy occurred when they were apart, the actor was in Toronto filming, and his wife was in Quebec.
Family and friends have been anticipating that Neeson would be happy again after his wife's death. Recently, the actor made shocking news that he had fallen in love again with a woman he met while filming in Melbourne two years ago.

Richardson had gone on a ski vacation with their eldest son, Michael. Sadly, while gliding down a beginner's slope, she fell and hit her head, which was unprotected by a helmet.
Richardson was escorted to her hotel room by the ski instructor and another official of the ski patrol after turning down an ambulance. She later reached out to her husband, but her message was not laced with fear; instead, she reported the incident.

Neeson recalled his wife saying, "oh, darling, I've taken a tumble in the snow." But unknown to them, she was experiencing a lucid interval, where all seemed normal with the victim initially, but the brain begins to take in the blood that eventually causes pressure.
Eventually, the actress was taken to the hospital, where numerous scan tests were run. When Neeson joined her, he knew the accident had caused fatal damage after viewing the scan results. The doctors later explained that his wife was brain dead. Richardson was plugged into life support, but not for long.

The "Taken" star admitted that he accepted the loss sooner and went in to whisper his last words. According to him:
"And I went in to her and told her I loved her. Said, 'Sweetie, you're not coming back from this. You've banged your head. It's... I don't know if you can hear me, but that's... this is what's gone down. And we're bringing ya back to New York. All your family and friends will come.'"

Despite feeling sad about the accident, he honored her words and, many years later, still feels fulfilled at the purpose his wife is serving; Neeson donated her organs. He stated:
"She's gone. But donated three of her organs, so she's keeping three people alive at the moment. Yeah. Her heart, her kidneys and her liver."
Life after Losing Richardson
Losing Richardson was a devastating blow. The actor felt unstable. He could not come to terms with her absence, and during the first few years, he hoped that she would walk into the house and make the rattling noise with the keys as she used to.

He tried to stay strong for their kids, both teenagers when Richardson died. Thankfully, he had help from a friend who told Michael that his story was similar (losing his mom at a young age).
This somehow strengthened the boys, but not their father. Instead, Neeson immersed himself in work, never wanting to appear weak, sad, or depressed.

He confirmed, "I'm not good with... without work. I just don't... I wallow too much. You know? And I just didn't want to... especially for my boys, to be... seem to be wallowing in sadness or depression." After Losing his wife, he was featured in more than twenty movies.
Neeson Joked about Being in a Relationship
Family and friends have been anticipating that Neeson would be happy again after his wife's death. Recently, the actor made shocking news that he had fallen in love again with a woman he met while filming in Melbourne two years ago.

Although he refused to share her identity, Neeson admitted that she was already taken. This is not the first time the actor would send fans into a frenzy with his admission.
In 2016, he alleged that he was in a relationship with a well-known woman but refused to share her identity. Later, a spokesperson revealed that it was merely a joke.
Although Neeson has not reached the point where he would share his love or plus one with the world, he is still an impressive family man dedicated to his sons and his career.
