Carter released hits such as "Aaron's Party" (Come Get It), "That's How I Beat It Shaq," and "I Want Candy." He was the younger brother of the Backstreet Boys' Nick Carter and opened up for the music group, including pop star Britney Spears before going on his first solo tour in 2000.
Carter also dabbled in rap music in recent years and released his fifth and last studio album, "LOVE," in 2018, over ten years following his previous album.
The former teen pop star was also an actor and appeared as himself in the TV shows, "7th Heaven," "Lizzie McGuire," and "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch." He also starred in films such as "Supercross," "Fat Albert," and "Popstar."
Carter and his brother, Nick, and their three other siblings, Angel, Bobbie, Jean, and Leslie, appeared in their short-lived reality show, "House of Carters," in 2006. The songwriter also appeared on "Dancing with the Stars" during Season 9 in 2009.

Carter Struggled with Addiction
Apart from his Hollywood career, Carter was battling addiction. In September 2017, he revealed on Twitter that he would be scarce from the public for a while:
"I would like to tell all of you that I will be disappearing for a while to work on myself. Most importantly, my stressors haven't subsided with family, and this year has been crazy, and I need some time off from all of it. Going to get strong. And deal with my stress conditions and get better."
Earlier that day, his rep Steve Honig revealed to People that the "I'm All About You" singer had checked himself into rehab to "improve his health and work on his overall wellness."
Carter's decision to admit himself into a facility came a day after a neighbor called the police to his home for a welfare check following a concerning FaceTime conversation. His words were reportedly "slurred and did not make sense," and his "skin color was off."
Carter also said he would take a break from social media until 2018: "See you guys later. This social media stuff isn't for me. I'll see you next year. I'm taking a break from this. Talk to you all in 2018."
The "Liberty's Kids" star vented in his succeeding tweets, saying he had had enough of social media "and the lies" which were "tearing me up inside." In a follow-up tweet, He wrote:
"Twitter will no longer be a part of my existence. Don't worry this is my last tweet. Take care. I'll miss you all. You were like my family."
Carter had been through a roller coaster ride before checking into a rehabilitation center to get better. Honig divulged he would be doing it low-key: "He is going to do this privately and focus all his attention on being the best person and performer possible. He is grateful for the support and love from his fans and looks forward to coming back stronger than ever before."
Moreover, the music superstar penned on Twitter, "Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me."
Per People, the authorities had checked in on the Hollywood star several times at his St. Petersburg, Florida home. A caller dialed the police telling them that Carter was "not in a safe mental state."
The unidentified caller revealed that the "Iko Iko" singer was threatening to take his own life and believed he had been under the influence of substance abuse.
In September 2017, law enforcement officers visited Carter's home thrice in 24 hours following a report from an individual that he had been contemplating purchasing a firearm and threatened to cause his family harm.
Moreover, he had encountered trouble with the police on numerous occasions. In the first incident, he rear-ended a driver in Florida over Labor Day weekend and was arrested for two misdemeanor violations.
In addition, Carter had some personal problems during that period which his former publicist said, "stemmed from his childhood." The publicist revealed the star had lost his sister and did not have a good relationship with his mother, adding,
"He needs a good slap in the face to wake up, and I really hope this is it because he is so talented and needs to stop what he's doing."
Another former publicist, Jonathan Ward, disclosed Carter was constantly "cyberbullied" and struggled to pull away from "these people who want to berate him. He's human."
Carter previously got candid about his struggles in a post on Twitter in December 2015, writing:
"Love is the toughest thing I deal with in my life. I'm constantly misunderstood and judged for my past. I'm a really sensitive guy and, yes, jealous and insecure at times because I know I'm a skinny person, all of the anxiety stuff."
Carter Longed to Have a Child
Amid his woes, Carter announced in April 2020 that he was going to be a first-time dad. The musician revealed during an Instagram Live feed that he and his girlfriend, Melanie Martin, were expecting their first child together:
"I have a baby on the way. I'm going to be a busy father for sure. This is the official announcement; we're pregnant."
During an interview with People, the father-to-be stated he was excited about being a parent, adding that it was what he and Martin desired. Carter shared that being a dad would become his priority because he wanted to be an exemplary father to his child. He added that he had been busy with his music career, among other ventures, but that loved ones came first for him.
Carter made his relationship with Martin public in January 2020 with a snapshot on social media, and a month later, he openly talked about their newfound romance. He said they were getting to know each other and learning about each other's boundaries, adding that Martin's needs came first, something he learned from his father.
The "Crush On You" singer divulged Martin was the first woman to be fully "invested" in him and showed him love he had never experienced. He revealed they had moved in together and were on the same path:
"I'm just showing her a different side of love that I myself am not accustomed to. So that's why I made it a point to do things differently. She's a blessing. Her love is worth it. And that's what means the most to me."
The couple got engaged in June 2020 and welcomed their son, Prince, in November 2021. Martin underwent an emergency C-section after 13 hours of labor.
Carter praised his fiancée for a job well done in bringing their baby boy into the world, saying, "Prince is precious. I love you, son. I'm so proud of you, hunny. You did it. I love you with all my heart, my beautiful blessings from God [sic]."
Prince's arrival came more than a year after his mom suffered a miscarriage two months after announcing that she was on the way. Carter revealed that Martin lost the baby because of stressful conditions and that they would try to have another one again.
Martin and Carter did not have an easy relationship as they went through numerous storms together. The pair had broken up, made up, lost a child, and were blessed with a miracle baby. When Martin was still pregnant, the couple appeared to be going strong as she gushed about her fiancé on social media:
"Even through our darkest storms, I know you're the one I want to spend the rest of my days with, @aaroncarter. I'm so blessed and grateful for the life we have built." I love you with all my heart."
Carter and the mother of his child reportedly broke up a week after welcoming their child, leading to her filing a restraining order against him following a physical fight.
Carter's Tragic Passing
Sadly, in November 2022, Carter was reported dead at age 34, after his body was discovered at his house in Lancaster, California. Per People via TMZ, a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesperson disclosed that a body had been found before 11:00 a.m., but officials could not immediately identify the victim.
Meanwhile, Carter's manager, Taylor Helgeson, confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that the singer was indeed deceased and that the family would release a statement in due course. There had been a 911 call before the discovery of Carter's body in a bathtub. The cause of death is still yet to be revealed.
Carter previously divulged that he was diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder, manic depression, acute anxiety, and schizophrenia in September 2019.
