Luke Combs Would 'Really Love' to Lose Weight after Being Called 'Fat' — Singer Wants to 'Be Around' for Son

Luke Combs has always had to contend with weight issues that started in his childhood. He overate from time to time, but he mostly blamed genetics for his weight problems until his child was born. Combs has adopted a healthy lifestyle, and his wife supports him by shutting down the trolls.

Parents make sacrifices for their kids all the time. This is a constant fact; however, the type of sacrifice may differ. In the case of Luke Combs, he had to give up something he could have always gone without; his weight.

Combs has always had weight problems as a child, which did not change as he grew older. The country star had always blamed it on the genetic hand he was dealt, but he did not try to get better or fit in the past.

He has admitted that he used to "pig out" sometimes; however, since a child entered the picture, Combs has chosen to focus on getting fit. This means breaking off his unhealthy relationship with food and practicing consistency by sticking to his diet. He said:

"This having a kid thing has really messed up my head on this thing in the best way. I want to be around, dude. Do you know what I mean?"

It has not been easy, and Luke has likened the attempt to quitting addictive substance abuse. According to him, it was even harder than quitting cigarettes because the human body requires food to survive, not nicotine.

Luke has always been candid about his struggle but showing his vulnerabilities leaves him at the mercy of people's judgment, which is not always pleasant. On Twitter, he has been bashed by several fans for his chubby looks a lot of time.

Just this September, a Twitter user took to his page to point out how "fat" Luke was, and back in April, another Twitter user took a virtual swing at him when he said that any "fat guy in a flannel with a beard is automatically Luke Combs." Thankfully, it is not always negativity only. Luke also receives compliments from his fans, some of who think he is handsome.

Losing Weight to be With his Son

As earlier stated, having a child with his wife, Nicole Combs, caused many changes within and around Luke. It made him realize that if he kept going the way he was, he might not live to watch his child grow up.

Luke has reevaluated his goals and is determined to improve whatever he does, regardless of what it is. The talented musician has said he does not want people to see him as a man who does not care for himself.

Despite his desire to get fit, Luke says he is comfortable in his skin but will keep improving in every area of his life. The star married his wife Nicole in August 2020 in a wedding ceremony held in Florida and attended by their loved ones.

The pair first announced that they were expecting their first child in January 2022 in an Instagram post Luke shared. The post included a montage of pictures with Nicole and a caption that read:

"Here we go y'all! Lil dude Combs is coming this Spring. Couldn't be more excited to start a family with this babe. It's gonna be a hell of a ride, @nicolejcombs."

When the child finally arrived, he did so on Father’s day and was named Tex Lawrence Combs. The delivery went smoothly, and the couple returned home with their child on the same day.

As a father, Luke has said it has become easier to make certain decisions and that peace comes with the territory because many things simply seize to be worrisome. Luke used to deal with overwhelming anxiety now and then before becoming a dad, but now that he's one, episodes happen less often.

Wife Defends Husband from Critics

Marriage is a union of two people who complete each other. That definition works perfectly for Luke's marriage to Nicole. Luke has always struggled with weight, so criticism from people was nothing new to him. However, while he may have gotten used to backlash for his size from netizens, his wife was different.

Not long after they married, Nicole posted a picture of him on social media with a caption in which she called him "hot." This seemed to trigger some trolls, and they took to the comment section with terrible statements that also targeted their relationship. It got under her skin and caused her to retaliate.

In her retort, she shared a tweet that contained a meme of a Facebook Marketplace ad and a caption that revealed it was dedicated to people being mean on Twitter because she was dating a bigger guy.

Afterward, she urged everyone to quit with the double standards. Nicole and Luke got engaged to each other in 2018, and theirs appears to be a match made in heaven because, according to reports, she has also been trying to lose weight for an extended period.

Like Luke, she has also struggled with maintaining a consistent diet plan. In 2017, she shared a tweet that saw her confess that she would also like to lose weight but could not give up on "wine and pizza."

Luke, who is well-known for his vocal talent, has come a long way from the man he used to be, and though he has fatherhood and a strong woman by his side to thank for it, the amount of work he has put in can not be overlooked. Fans hope he can tough it out and stay consistent so he can remain healthy while spending time with his lovely family.
