Boy Exposes Stepdad Who Fooled the Whole Family to Get Grandma’s Inheritance — Story of the Day
A loving boy discovers his stepdad's evil plan to get his grandmother's inheritance all for himself. He lets his grandmother know, causing her to change her will altogether.
"Get out of here, Braiden," Greg told his stepson while the young boy was watching TV in the living room.
"But it's time for my favorite show!" Braiden whined sadly as he got up from the living room couch.

"No one cares. Come on, go to your room, and don't be a bother," Greg said, flopping onto the couch to watch TV himself.
Braiden cried on his way up to his grandmother's room instead of his. He gave her a tight hug as he continued to cry.
"What's wrong, darling?" Grandma Nelly asked him.
"Greg kicked me out of the living room just as my favorite show was about to start. Why is he such a mean, grumpy man?" he asked.
"Oh, dear," Grandma Nelly said, patting Braiden's back to comfort him. "I'm sorry you had to experience that again. Would you still like to watch it? Grandma's TV is working... And I've got some potato chips we can eat together!" she offered. "What do you say?"
Braiden wiped his tears and flashed a big smile on his face. "You're the best, grandma! I'd love to watch my favorite show with you!"

Braiden spent the entire afternoon with Grandma Nelly in her room, where they watched his favorite show and laughed together as they ate potato chips and drank iced tea as a snack.
One day, Braiden overheard his mom and stepfather talking. Greg was telling Lucy what he would like to do with the house once Grandma Nelly died, telling her that they could sell it and buy a smaller apartment so they could do what they pleased with the money.
"Grandma, don't drink from that cup. Greg put something in it," he whispered.
Lucy cringed every time Greg spoke about her mother dying, but she was afraid to tell him off. He had a temper, and she didn't want to get on his wrong side because of what he might do.
Braiden cried as he overheard the conversation, heartbroken that they were talking about his beloved grandmother dying. "I don't want grandma to die," he said to himself. "Please, God, don't take granny away from me!"

On Grandma Nelly's 80th birthday, Braiden saw his stepfather pouring something into his grandma's drink. Greg glanced at the boy and glared back at him.
"You didn't see anything, or you'll get a taste of my belt!" he threatened.
The boy knew what it was like to be punished by Greg, and it was something he did not want to experience again. However, he loved his grandmother too much to let anything happen to her.
"Grandma, don't drink from that cup. Greg put something in it," he whispered.
Grandma Nelly was shocked and decided to confront her daughter. "Lucy! Did you know about this?!" she asked. "How could you do this to me?!"

Even Lucy was surprised by what Greg had done and could not believe that the man she married was capable of doing such a thing, especially to her mother. She decided to give Greg the benefit of the doubt and did not confront him about what Braiden had accused him of doing.
When they finally did confront him together, Greg scoffed. "How can you believe what an 8-year-old child says?! Don't believe him. He watches too many TV shows that get to his head," he tried to lie.
Grandma Nelly knew she could no longer trust Greg and Lucy, and wanted them out of her house. Braiden begged to stay with her, and she agreed because she was afraid of what Greg would do to Braiden.
That day, after Greg and Lucy left, Grandma Nelly checked the hidden surveillance cameras in the main areas at home that Greg had no clue about. She saw everything and was angered.

A couple of days later, Grandma Nelly asked Greg and Lucy to return home. She said that she had some important documents they needed to sign, and this made Greg ecstatic.
"Oh, thank God your mom believed me and not your tattletale son! She's going to give us her inheritance!" he said as they drove to Grandma Nelly's house.
Lucy kept quiet beside him, just as she had been in the past week away from Braiden and her mom. When they got there, Lucy went straight to hug her son and mom. Then, Nelly handed Greg the papers.
"Thank you for entrusting us with this," Greg said with a big smile on his face. "You're leaving your fortune in good hands!"
"I sure am," Grandma Nelly said.

Greg, without even reading through the papers, signed in the highlighted area that had his name printed on it. He handed it back, and asked: "So, when will we transfer the papers to our names?"
Grandma Nelly smirked. "I'll transfer it to Lucy and Braiden's names as soon as I can," she revealed. "As for you, thank you for signing your divorce papers. You'll hear from our lawyers soon."
Greg's eyes widened as he tried to retrieve the papers from Nelly's hands again. "No!" he cried out. "I'm NOT divorcing Lucy! What are you talking about?!" he yelled.
"You either leave here peacefully, or we call the cops and charge you for attempted murder. It's your choice, Greg," Lucy told him. "I can't believe I married a monster like you."
Greg's worst fear was going to prison, so he decided to let the issue go. He drove away in his car and never showed his face to Grandma Nelly, Lucy, or Braiden ever again.
Meanwhile, Lucy and Braiden lived with Grandma Nelly. They spent a lot of time together as a family and made the most out of the rest of Grandma Nelly's life. Eventually, they inherited the house and continued to live there until Braiden grew up.
