Mary Beougher Fought for Randy Travis's Life When Doctors Gave Him One Percent Chance to Live after Stroke
Mary Beougher had a second chance at love when she met and started dating the country musician, songwriter, guitarist, and actor Randy Travis. Their relationship was tested when the singer was diagnosed with a stroke and had a slim chance of survival.
For almost eight years, Mary Beougher has been married to the man who reportedly saved country music, famous country musician Randy Travis, whose been in the industry for more than four decades.
Although they have been going strong since the start of their romance, Mary Beougher's relationship with the singer was once shrouded with controversy. The pair met when they were both still married to their ex-partners and had an affair.

After their messy divorces from their former spouses, she said yes when the singer proposed to her in 2013. Unfortunately, the love of her life suffered a life-threatening stroke.
The stroke left him with motor and communicative issues just months after their engagement. Beougher never left her husband's side as she helped him through his difficult times.

Mary Beougher Saved Her Husband's Life When Doctors Lost Hope
When the hospital admitted Travis, his condition was critical, and shortly after he got there, he suffered a stroke, leaving him in a semi-coma state.
The doctors informed Beougher that the singer needed emergency brain surgery. According to them, he had no chance of survival without the surgery, but with the surgery, he had a one percent chance of survival.

Although she was his fiancée then, she could take the country musician off his life support. Confused, she asked for a sign and got the one she needed to fight.
Beougher said as she sat by him, he squeezed her hand, and she saw tears falling. She saw this as the sign she needed, went back to the doctors, and told them to fight for the singer's life.

Mary Beougher Was Her Husband's Voice Amid His Long Road to Recovery
Mary Beougher and Travis stayed out of the spotlight as she nursed him back to health. For months, fans and the media did not know how he was doing.
Beougher remained a steadfast support by his side.
However, in 2014, the country musician showed up in public with a wheelchair and a walking stick. Before the end of the year, he revealed that his movement had improved, and he could go a short distance without his cane.

Before the country singer left the hospital, Beougher found ways to cheer him up even when he was in his coma. She recalled that her sister-in-law would bring in the mail from the fans every few days.
She would read them all to Travis no matter how much they were. The fans offered the couple strength and encouragement during their trying times.
After his discharge from the hospital, the country musician could not speak in complete sentences, and Beougher became his voice and would answer interview questions on his behalf.

Mary & Randy Finally Said I Do after Overcoming Difficult Times
More than a year after the incident, Beougher finally said "I do" to her man. The couple secretly got married after Pastor Tommy Nelson officiated their wedding on March 21, 2015.
Barely one month after their wedding, Travis pleasantly surprised his fans when he appeared at the 50th Academy of Country Music Awards on April 19, 2015.

She revealed that they wanted to make it since the awards were happening in Dallas and were celebrating its 50th anniversary. Travis finally made his grand comeback to the stage four years after his stroke.
Beougher remained a steadfast support by his side. She said they felt lucky, and the country singer never stopped fighting to get stronger.
