"This is Us" star Mandy Moore and her husband, "When My Time Comes" singer Taylor Goldsmith are the newest parents in town. The pair recently announced the arrival of their second son, Oscar Bennet Goldsmith, who was born on October 21.
The pair announced the thrilling news on Instagram in a post accompanied by a series of beautiful black and white photos. In two of the shots, Moore is pictured holding Ozzy, as they refer to him, while in a third, her husband cuddles the little boy protectively.
In the caption accompanying the photos, the "Only Hope" songstress revealed that baby Ozzy had arrived a little later than expected. Still, his birth was easier and faster than his older brother's, August "Gus" Harrison.
In appreciating their little bundle of joy, the new parents noted that their hearts had indeed doubled in size, and they were astounded at how fast they had fallen in love with their baby. They were also incredibly grateful for their family of four.
Moore then thanked her doctor, nurses and even the photographer for holding space and allowing for such a transcendent birth experience.
What Labor Did Mandy Moore Have?
Before welcoming Ozzy, Moore took her fans on her birthing journey, posting photos of her labor. In the tear-jerking photos, Moore is seen holding her newborn to her chest with her head thrown back in laughter.
In the following photos, her husband and other family members share her happiness as they all smile at the camera in celebration. She captioned the pictures with the story of Ozzy's birth, revealing that he came into the world to the soundtrack of Willie Nelson's "Stardust."
Fans in the comment section were equally happy for Moore and left congratulatory messages about her new baby. Some noted how beautiful the moment was, while others left heart emojis to show love and congratulate Moore and her husband. One fan wrote:
"Oh Mandy. That first photo is everything. The joy. Almost too much to bear — the release after the effort. I am so happy for you."
The singer noted that it was a month after Ozzy was born, but she could still feel everything about the moment she had her son, which she said felt like it was only a second ago. She also noted how unimaginable it was to fathom her life before she had Ozzy.
Months before she went into labor, Moore disclosed she would have an unmedicated birth because she suffered from a condition that could not allow her to have an epidural. She feared it would be a repeat of her first delivery, which she commented on, saying:
"It was awful. But I can do it one more time. I can climb that mountain again."
She shared that she had a low platelet count caused by an autoimmune disorder she suffered from. Having had an awful first experience, Moore confessed:
"I wish medication was an option — just the idea of it being on the table is so nice. But we'll just push forth like we did last time."
Why Was Mandy Scared for Her Baby During Her Pregnancy?
Moore's second delivery was speedier and more manageable than her first, but the pregnancy journey was nothing to write home about. In June, the singer and actress announced she would cancel her "In Real Life" tour because she was worried about her baby's health.
She had not foreseen how challenging being on a tour bus during pregnancy was, but seeing her son, Gus stand in his Pack N' Play with the bus shaking was the last straw that broke the camel's back.
She decided she wouldn't do the tour anymore and would instead focus on her's and her unborn baby's health. She disclosed at the time:
"I was scared I was going to adversely affect my (unborn) baby and his growth."
Now, after a safe delivery and welcoming a healthy baby, Moore can breathe easy and is excited about raising her two boys. Her son Gus is already a doting big brother to Ozzy and has severally been photographed showering his little brother with love and hugs.
