Eddie Vedder Married Musician Beth Liebling and Former Model Jill McCormick: Inside His Two Marriages
Professionally, singer-songwriter Eddie Vedder has had quite a successful career as the lead vocalist for the rock band Pearl Jam. Although he has been married twice, he has had a relatively stable romantic life as the relationships with both women each lasted for over a decade.
Vedder's career began with a search for a band in the 1980s while holding other jobs to make a living. In 1990, Vedder was invited to audition after sending a demo to former Mother Love Bone band members looking to form a new band. Shortly, Pearl Jam was formed, and thus began Vedder's journey to stardom.
While searching for a way into the industry, he received support from his then-girlfriend, Beth Liebling. She would also go on to have a successful music career. After marriage — and divorce — to Liebling, it took another ten years before he remarried. His second marriage gave him his two daughters.
Eddie Vedder's Failed Marriage with First Wife Beth Liebling
Vedder and Liebling began dating while they were still teenagers in 1983. The talented rock duo was together while trying to find their feet in the music industry and were together when they achieved those dreams. Liebling began her professional journey as a Bass guitarist and drummer in 1993.
After about ten years of dating, Vedder and Liebling decided to get married. They did so in Italy in 1994. Their relationship was a private affair that was generally kept away from the public. However, tragedy struck as the music couple decided to go their separate ways in 2000. Vedder was devastated about the breakup, noting:
"Relationships can be tough. I think I’m probably a very difficult person to deal with. Things never seem to settle down and be normal, and I think Beth has to deal with a lot. But at times there is tension. We are all selfish at heart."
His Current Wife Is Jill McCormick
Soon after his divorce from Liebling, Vedder began dating model Jill McCormick that same year. When they started their relationship, McCormick was at the height of her modeling career. She had moved to Paris four years earlier to develop her craft which eventually saw her featured in top fashion publications.
After she retired from modeling, the brilliant McCormick moved on to activism and philanthropy. She subscribes to the idea of being a global citizen and is an ambassador for Global Citizen, an organization fighting against extreme poverty. She recently worked with them to encourage people to get vaccinated against Covid-19.
As part of her philanthropic efforts, she and Vedder co-founded the EB Research Partnership. The non-profit organization aims to help find a cure for a rare, deadly skin condition called Epidermolysis Bullosa. She is the current vice-chairman of the organization, which has already raised millions of dollars towards the cause.
Eddie Vedder and Jill McCormick Dated for Almost Ten Years before Getting Married
Vedder and McCormick began dating right at the turn of the millennium and got engaged nine years later, in 2009. Vedder proposed while they were in Washington DC where he was taking part in the Kennedy Centre Honors Gala.
They got married the following year, on September 18, 2010, at an intimate occasion graced by famous witnesses such as musician Jack Johnson and Hollywood actor Sean Penn. The wedding ceremony took place in exotic Hawaiian hospitality.
By the time the duo married in 2010, they already had two children, Olivia and Harper. Olivia is 18 years old, and Harper is 14. They have a happy, close-knit family, as shown in their Instagram posts.
Eddie Vedder has a relatively stable romantic history. He has been married twice, but both marriages have been with women he has spent at least 15 years with. He has been with his current wife, Jill McCormick, for more than two decades, and their relationship is still strong.
