Goldie Hawn has been a Hollywood mainstay for many years now, and her reach is felt throughout the many movies and series she has done. She is also a mother to three children with two different men.
She celebrated her 77th birthday on Monday, November 21, and fans and friends worldwide wished the actress a happy birthday. Her daughter, Kate Hudson, made a touching tribute to her mother to mark the occasion.
Hudson took to Instagram to share about her mother's birthday. She shared a series of photos of her and her mother and paired them with a lengthy caption in which she spoke about how much she loved Hawn and called her the "best mother."
Hawn's daughter ensured the world knew how much she admired her mom with the post by saying she is a "treasure trove of wisdom." Hudson said she felt honored to know her mother intimately and wondered if God knew what had been concocted when Hawn was created.
Hudson also admired her mother for being a trailblazer for women when the path seemed difficult and for standing up for herself in every situation. She then mentioned that Hawn is a wonderful mother and grandmother.
While many were touched by Hudson's message to her mother, it held special meaning for Hawn herself, who said:
"My dearest darling baby girl. Your message has brought me to tears. Your beautiful words have penetrated my soul, that I will float on forever and ever. I love you with all of my heart."
Why Did Hawn Give Up Her Career for 15 Years?
In 2017, Hawn was asked why she hadn't done a movie in 15 years. Her last role before the interview was in "The Banger Sisters" in 2002. She confessed that reaching a milestone in her life made her rethink her career.
Hawn said that turning 50 changed her mind about acting. When she turned 50, she felt compelled to do something more with her life than simply acting. She was striving for something more meaningful.
She said she asked her acting friends of the same age what they would do now that they were 50 and confessed that she wanted to dig deeper and discover who she was and what she had to offer the world.
Talking about how she viewed her age and the role it played in her career at the time, Hawn confessed:
"I believe that life is about doing. It's about changing; it's about transitioning; I can't imagine, as a human being, not being able to grow."
Hawn said she had dreams of learning archaeology or helping to heal the world on some level. She wanted to live somewhere new and learn new things rather than work on more movies or TV shows.
She also confessed that after 9/11, her view on life began to change, and she knew that she needed to do something to help others rather than simply make them laugh with her acting roles.
The Mother-Daughter Duo: What Is Their Relationship Like?
While Kate and Oliver Hudson have a notoriously bad relationship with their father, Bill Hudson, they have a great relationship with their mother and her longtime partner, Kurt Russell, who has been their father figure for many years.
In particular, Hawn and her daughter share an incredible bond. Hudson has often spoken about what her mother means to her and recently described her as an inspiration and the foundation for Hudson's values.
Hudson also said that her mother has a love for life and celebrates every victory, whether it be big or small. She confessed she believed she had inherited this trait from her mother and was grateful for that.
Hudson, who is now an ambassador for Stuart Weitzmann shoes, said she chose her mother to collaborate with her on a campaign because while Hawn had instilled in her a love of life, she also instilled a love of fashion and shoes.
Hawn confirmed what her daughter said and said that she had a separate section in her closet dedicated to Stuart Weitzmann shoes, so she was excited about the campaign. Apart from the shoes, she was also excited to work with her daughter on something they were both passionate about.
The veteran actress said the campaign was a lovely experience because she got to spend the day with her daughter in a professional setting and watch her shine as she did the
, which brought
"unimaginable joy."
