Malu Trevejo's Mom Once Called the Police on Her – Inside Their Relationship
Rising star Malu Trevejo has gained many fans since she popped onto the scene in 2017. However, the Cuban singer seems to be losing her mother, as their increasingly strained relationship is creating a big rift between them.
Trevejo's rise to stardom has been nothing short of sensational. The 20-year-old has always had a knack for entertaining. She desired to be involved in the performing arts from an early age. This would go hand in hand with her natural ability to be creative. That creativity saw her open a Musical.ly account when she was just 15.
Nevertheless, despite all her success in the entertainment industry, her personal life seemed to be going in the opposite direction, especially regarding her relationship with her mother. Trevejo and her mother lived together in three different countries, and she was her only legal guardian at some stage.
Malu Trevejo’s Childhood
Trevejo's childhood was spent in three different countries. After being born in Cuba's capital, Havana, on October 15, 2002, she moved to Spain with her parents. The family lived in Madrid for twelve years before moving to Miami with her mother at 13.
In 2020, an almost 18-year-old Trevejo was informed by her mother that the man she had grown up believing to be her father was actually her stepfather. It is alleged that her biological father had told Trevejo's mother that she would be better off being with a financially stable man; hence, her mother went for Trevejo's stepdad.
Her birth father is reportedly in jail in Mexico, serving a 122 years jail sentence for robbery and homicide. The news shocked the young internet personality, who admitted that although the information made her understand herself better, it also hurt her relationship with the man who had taken of her all her life.
Malu Trevejo’s Career So Far
Trevejo initially showed a passion for entertainment when she was younger. There are videos online which were recorded by her parents that show her making skit videos with her friends. Besides the skits, she also enjoyed dancing and has videos showing her belly dancing skills uploaded on the internet.
At that time, the videos were being made for a smaller audience. Still, she soon joined Musical.ly, where her lip-syncing videos saw her following grow into the millions, establishing Trevejo as an internet sensation at a very young age. By the age of 14, her talents attracted the interest of recording companies.
She soon signed recording and management deals with In-Tu Linea and Universal Music Latin. This signaled her move away from lip-syncing to recording her music. Her debut song, "Luna Llena," released in 2017, has since amassed over 125 million views on YouTube alone. She was signed to Travis Scott's Cactus Jack in 2021.
Inside Malu Trevejo’s Relationship with Her Mom
Trevejo's relationship with her mother seems to have been good when she was younger and before becoming famous. However, in recent years, that relationship has broken down and become hostile. Trevejo constantly posts videos talking about her mother's appalling behavior towards her.
She says that her mother's alcoholism was a huge problem. Trevejo felt traumatized by the abuse she would get from her mother and her boyfriends. At one point, Trevejo claims that her mother called the police because she had disposed of her stepfather's cocaine. She even tried to escape by running away from home.
However, she has said that her mother now uses various media platforms, such as fan pages, to say bad things about her. Trevejo acknowledges that her mother might not be the one necessarily writing as her English is not that good. Instead, she is being used by someone else, probably her boyfriend.
The relationship between Malu Trevejo and her mother seems to have spiraled out of control. The issues between the mother and daughter have resulted in a barrage of online bad-mouthing, which has only worsened the situation and created further distance between them.
