A woman who lost her memory started receiving anonymous gifts every Christmas for a few years. She had no idea who it was until she waited by the door one year and saw a 12-year-old girl with a surprising tale from her past.

Julie grabbed the strange package left on her doorstep that Christmas day and went back inside. It had no card, and she opened it to find a beautiful hand-sewn bunny. It made her smile, but she wasn't exactly sure why. It was a mystery, one of the many that arose after that one incident long ago.

About a year ago, Julie was driving late at night when she fell asleep at the wheel and got into a serious crash. Luckily, she was physically fine, but her memory was gone. The doctors told her it might just be temporary, but she had to be patient.

She had no family but several friends and people from her neighborhood tried their best to help her remember. Sadly, nothing worked. Still, their support was invaluable, and they never wavered, although Julie couldn't recall their friendship.

Those shocking words made Julie flinch, and her hand flew to her head.

She had a weekly meeting with a psychiatrist, who gave different treatments and exercises to jumpstart her memories. Sadly, nothing seemed to work except for a few moments every once in a while. But they mostly felt like déjà vu.

This was one of those moments. She stared at the bunny she received intently, hoping to remember something, but nothing concrete came to mind. It was just a feeling.

Unfortunately, her memories did not return that year, and there was another unsigned Christmas present at her doorstep the following year. This time, she received gloves. The year after that, another gift showed up, and it contained a little booklet of child drawings where a mother was holding the baby.

That present worried her the most. She must have forgotten something vital and talked to her psychiatrist often, desperate to remember anything. But she was disappointed once again when nothing happened.

Julie was waiting by her window next to the front door. It was the fourth Christmas since her accident, and she was going to catch whoever appeared this time. To her surprise, it was a young girl who couldn't be over 12.

She skipped up the steps, and Julie saw the present in her hands and rushed to open the door. Her heart pounded like crazy, but she didn't want to scare the kid away. So, she breathed and smiled. "Hey, there," Julie greeted.

The girl grinned back and pushed the present into her hands.

"Thank you," Julie said. "Are you the one who has been giving me presents every year?"

But instead of answering that question, the girl said, "This is my last present, and if we never see each other again, I want you to keep it and remember me."

Those shocking words made Julie flinch, and her hand flew to her head as a memory finally appeared. But all she remembered was herself, writing those words on a piece of paper and wrapping a gift box.

Suddenly, Julie knew what would be inside this year's present. She opened the box quickly and saw a snow globe with a Ferris wheel inside. And finally, her whole life came back in a flash.

"I had to do something," her psychiatrist, Dr. Farmiga, shrugged with a cheeky smile.

Julie laughed. "But you still could've told me you were my friend since childhood, Joshua!"

She and the psychiatrist had met many years ago when Julie was abandoned at a children's shelter. He was her only friend, and he knew everything about her. They lost touch as adults, and after Julie's accident, her best friend contacted him. He came up with an idea regarding the gifts, hoping it would trigger her past.

Julie had a mom who had left her at the shelter but promised to return. She had sent that woman presents for the next four Christmases and wished for her to return. But on the fourth Christmas at the shelter, she sent her a goodbye note: the words the 12-year-old repeated on her doorstep.

"Who was the little girl who came to my door?" Julie asked.

"It was my niece, Tania," Joshua answered. "But I was the one who delivered the other presents. I thought you should hear those words from a little girl just like you were."

Julie pursed her lips as her eyes watered. "Thank you!" she gushed and hugged her friend. After that, Julie returned to her life, which was a little different, mainly because four years without memories had changed a lot. But it was still beautiful, and she was happy to know that many people loved her.
