After her divorce from Nick Cannon, she raised her children and tried to do anything to help them remain humble.
Mariah Carey has made a name for herself in the music industry thanks to her pearl-clear soprano vocal range. Over the years, the "One Sweet Day" singer has risen to become one of the industry's most celebrated singer-songwriters of her generation, earning herself the moniker the "Queen of Christmas."
Recently, she showed just how befitting the name is as she brought the Christmas spirit to the Thanksgiving parade with her performance of "All I Want For Christmas Is You."
She donned a bright red tulle Cristian Siriano mermaid gown featuring a dramatic silhouette and a pencil skirt and accessorized the look with a beaded umbrella and a shiny tiara.
The singer graced the event alongside her two kids, twins Monroe and Moroccan, who she shares with her ex-husband, the "Masked Singer" host Nick Cannon. She says of her babies:
"Grateful and so proud of my beautiful kids Roc and Roe."
Fans praised the performance, with one fan noting how gorgeous she looked in her over-the-top outfit and another joking that she had, without a doubt, stolen Santa's moment. Another congratulated her on how she has raised her twins:
"Your children are adorable and very normal and sweet. You should be very proud of them and you have done a great job as a parent. Btw I love your daughter’s glasses ❤️🎁"
How Does Mariah Carey Raise Her Kids to Be Humble?
The "Always Be My Baby" singer has had a prolific career, one many singers can only dream of. Her ex-husband, Nick Cannon, is also successful in various aspects of his career, including TV shows, films, and movies.
Despite their combined success, Carey and Cannon are careful about how they raise their kids. While their divorce was anything but smooth, they have maintained a long-lasting friendship so they can make co-parenting easier.
Their efforts at remaining amicable have seen them raise responsible children, who, despite walking red carpets, going on yacht vacations, and even making a cameo in a music video, have not let their privileged life get to their heads.
Carey admits that while her children are sometimes a lot to deal with, they share a special mother-children bond, and she would not be the same without them. She also praised the special bond between the 11-year-olds, revealing that they loved each other and were best friends. She hopes they remain that way all their lives.
Most important, though, is how Cannon and Carey have raised their children to remain humble despite their privileged life. Cannon says he wants his children to understand that not every child grows up as privileged and as fortunate as they are, with Carey seconding the statement:
"It's hard, but I try to keep them grounded, so they don't think everything is just handed to them."
What Is Mariah Carey’s Personal Life like Now?
Since her separation from Cannon in 2014, Carey has been linked romantically with James Packer, who she started dating in 2015, and her backup dancer Bryan Tanaka. The singer was first spotted with Packer in the summer of 2015 before they became engaged in January 2016.

Unfortunately, their relationship was marred with insecurities, and Packer often wasn't comfortable with Carey and Tanaka's relationship, which at the time was purely professional. The pair eventually broke off their engagement and separated in October.
Soon after, Carey started seeing Tanaka and embarked on a whirlwind romance that is still ongoing six years later. She subtly confirmed her relationship with Tanaka in February 2017, saying:
"I just don't feel comfortable talking about my personal life ... Me and my boyfriend don't want to go that."
They initially split after dating for five months but eventually got together and have been going strong ever since. Their relationship has been a source of speculation for most, but the pair appear happy, as a source confirmed in 2021:
"Mariah is really happy. He's always doting on her, and they have a great time together."
The source also noted that Tanaka was great with Carey's children, and the four always have a wonderful time together. Carey also keeps her fans posted on her and Tanaka's relationship milestones through her Instagram updates.
