If you're a home organization and cleanliness fan, you most likely know Clea Shearer's name. She is one of the founders of a company called "The Home Edit," which is also the title of the Netflix series she shares with her business partner, Joanna Teplin.

The two rose to fame by reorganizing people's homes in their series. Every person, from the average family to celebrities like Reese Witherspoon, has been helped to get organized by Clea and Joanna.

This week, Clea took to Instagram to announce some news about her health. She talked about her journey through battling cancer. She shared that she was diagnosed on March 8 and underwent surgery a month later.

She underwent a double mastectomy on April 8 and was told the cancer was in her lymph nodes, and she would need chemo and radiation therapy. She said that six weeks after her surgery, she began chemotherapy.

In October, she started radiation therapy after she stopped producing white blood cells and has now been cleared of cancer. She announced: "Here I sit, nine months after my diagnosis - and I'm cancer free. It's a time in my life I will treasure, even though it was extremely difficult for all of us."

She admitted that she had been unable to stop crying since she rang the bell to say she was no longer a cancer victim. She also called herself a "survivor." It has been almost a year since she was diagnosed.

How Long Has Clea Been Fighting Cancer?

Clea mentioned that she first noticed a lump in her breast in mid-2021. She initially thought her breasts were "just lumpy" and ignored it. However, when she felt the lump again, she likened it to a small rock and knew something was wrong.

She admitted that if she had not just turned 40, she might never have taken her health as seriously as she did. She phoned her ob-gyn and asked for an appointment to have the lump checked but was told that there were no appointments for her.

Clea was forced to book her own mammogram and was told by the doctor who performed the procedure that she had cancer. She then urged women to prioritize their health and said:

"If I had waited, it would have been far too late."

She then said that women should advocate for themselves and that you should never take no for an answer when it comes to their health. She believes she saved her own life by booking her mammogram.

Who Is Her Family?

One thing that Clea said she was grateful for during her time battling cancer was that she got to spend an almost unlimited amount of time with her husband and her children while she was in treatment.

Clea and her husband, John, have two beautiful children. Stella Blue is eleven, and Sutton Gray is eight. The family banded together to support Clea through her struggle and are now celebrating her recovery together.

John is a famous photographer who has worked with A-List celebrities. His business is the self-titled John Shearer Photography. Clea once joked that she forced John to fall in love with her in 2005.

The couple's daughter, Stella, is a ballet dancer and loves it. Clea mentioned that although she loved dancing, she used to be afraid to perform at recitals, a fear that the young girl has recently overcome.

Not much is known about the couple's son, but Clea once called him an angel on social media. She took to Instagram to share a post for her son's birthday and praised him for being who he is.

She also said that he was a bright light in her world, and she wanted to figure out how she was able to freeze time so that she could keep her son the same age forever.

At the beginning of this year, before her diagnosis, Clea and her family took a trip to Disneyland. She said she knew the year would be a good one because they started it in the happiest place on earth. Clea and Joanna recently sold their business to Reese Witherspoon.
