Lars Ulrich Has Been Married Three Times – His Current Wife Is Model Jessica Miller
Lars Ulrich is best known as the drummer for the heavy metal band Metallica. The singer had been divorced twice before marrying his current wife, Jessica Miller. Besides being a model, Lars Ulrich's wife is also an actress.
Ulrich was born on December 26, 1963, in Gentofte, Denmark, but at 16, he relocated with his family to Los Angeles in 1980. As a kid, Ulrich was a committed tennis player, an interest he inherited from his father—Torben Ulrich—a professional tennis player.
Ulrich has been married three times: Debbie Jones was his first wife (1988 - 1990), and his second wife was Skylar Satenstein (January 26, 1997 - 2006). He married his current spouse, Miller, in 2015, and the two seem head over heels in love.
Ulrich also has composing credits on IMDb for the 2016 action-adventure film "X-Men: Apocalypse" and the 2000 action-thriller film "Mission: Impossible II."
The 58-year-old has three children: Myles Ulrich and Layne Ulrich, whom he shares with his ex-wife Skylar, and Bryce Ulrich-Nielsen, whom he shares with his former girlfriend, Connie Nielsen.
Lars' Bachelor Party before Marrying Jessica
Before his wedding with Miller, drummer Ulrich, one of the founding members of Metallica, celebrated his bachelor party with some of his friends.
The party, held on a weekend in San Francisco, featured a host of famous Hollywood stars. In attendance were Ian McKellan, Bradley Cooper, and the lead singer of Metallica, James Hetfield.
According to a source, the party kicked off with a night of bowling in a private room, with guests eating sushi and spinach dip. Even though it was Ulrich's party, the singer took the time to sign a bowling pin for the bowling alley staff before heading off to a celebratory dinner.
Ulrich, 58, and Miller, 38, got engaged in 2013 before exchanging vows in 2015. Now, the lovely couple has been married for seven years after previously dating for nine months.
Lars Believes in the Institution of Marriage
In an exclusive interview with VICE, Ulrich stated that even after marrying for the third time, he still believed in the institution of marriage:
"I've lived a lot. A third marriage… you save the best for last."
Ulrich joked that it was in line with their demographic when the interviewer related to his situation and said her father had also had three wives. The interviewer then asked Ulrich his ideal date since he was a known film enthusiast. The legendary drummer stated that he loves films because he finds them relaxing.
According to him, movies are his greatest escape because they draw him into a world of many fascinating creative things. Ulrich added that he loved going out to watch movies with his wife.
Ulrich is a proud dad of three boys. In a 2017 interview with VICE, he stated that his eldest son studied in Boston at the Berklee School of Music
Lars Shot His Model Spouse for a Metallica-Inspired Denim Collection
Besides enjoying movie dates with his wife, Ulrich once took a step into her world when he offered to shoot Miller for a denim collection launch. In 2016, Ulrich, who had practiced some photography, albeit amateurishly, in the past, dished on how he got the gig from Citizens of Humanity, a Los-Angeles based denim label.
Ulrich spoke about the launch and what it was like working with his wife as she modeled the collection's pieces. Ulrich's wife is a veteran model who has worked with some famous fashion brands, the likes of Chanel and Marc Jacobs.
The Metallica band co-founder revealed the idea came about after his publicist spoke to him about doing an interview in the Citizens of Humanity Magazine with Justin O'Shea.
Ulrich spoke about having fun working with O'Shea, who revealed that he was working on a denim collection inspired by the 1980s harder rock bands, including Metallica. It was at the end of their collaboration for the day that Ulrich got the idea to shoot photos of his wife for the launch.
When asked how he approached the day of the shoot, Ulrich stated that he and his wife had a composition with the Citizens of Humanity team. So they devised a storyboard and got some photos that inspired them.
Ulrich, who is more in the background, composition, and styling aspects of photography, spoke about his experience working with the magazine team and stated that the crew helped in most parts of the project.
The drummer also confessed that he loved being in a creative space where he was out of his league but, at the same time, learning a lot.
Lars Is a Dad of Three
Ulrich is a proud dad of three boys. In a 2017 interview with VICE, he stated that his eldest son studied at the Berklee School of Music in Boston. His middle child was in high school, and his youngest was at Marin Country Day School.
Besides having children from different relationships, the father of three stated that he is very close to his sons. Both sides have no boundaries on what they talk about, including the complicated topic of relationships.
As much as he has a close relationship with his children, the singer revealed that growing up, he was a loner and was not used to opening up about stuff. He stated that his kids were the exact opposite, and he was glad they got to share many things.
Ulrich is a proud dad and is open to sharing anything with his kids. In one instance, he explained to his children how lucky they were to live a good life and attend the best schools. He has taught them to learn to appreciate everything.
