Joseph Sikora has been cautious about shielding his personal life from the Hollywood spotlight, especially his wife, whom he referred to as his "best friend." Life for the actor became easier after meeting her, but she almost left Sikora as he struggled with anger issues and made him promise to seek therapy.

Despite almost losing his most high-profile role as Tommy Egan in "Power" due to his wedding, Joseph Sikora felt strongly that his wife's presence in his life was a blessing. She came into his life as he pursued his childhood dream of acting, which his parents consistently supported.

Sikora faced much rejection, but he remained convinced that his dreams would come true and eventually enrolled at Columbia College Chicago to attain a BA in Theater. In "Power," his love life is quite complicated, and although not much is known about his relationship with his real-life partner, it wasn't without challenges.

They faced some issues as a couple, which Sikora has opened up about, but conquered them together. The "Boardwalk Empire" star has yet to reveal her name, but he mentions her now and then. A few years back, he told a fan about her feelings regarding his character on "Power" during an interaction on Twitter.

His Wife Is Not a Fan of Tommy Egan

In 2016, a Twitter user tagged Sikora with the hashtag "#AskPower," inquiring about whether he remained in character off-set. He responded, saying he "tried not to be," because his wife didn't like the cruel drug dealer he played.

On the contrary, Sikora's parents, who have watched nearly all his performances since his acting journey began, had no problem with Egan. They understood that their son was acting and commended his versatile abilities in all his roles.

Earlier this year, Sikora politely corrected a fan after they referred to his co-star and friend, Phil Donlon, as his "best friend." The Twitter user joked with the "Maniac" star, telling him to stop beating Donlon's character on "Power," and he responded:

"My best friend is my wife and I would never touch her."

Although the fan apologized for the misunderstanding, which came from her misinterpretation of an article about the actor, Sikora still assured her that he loved "Donlon," even if he wasn't his best friend.

His Wife Is a Makeup Artist and They Met on Set

In the 2010 drama series "Boardwalk Empire," Sikora appeared alongside Steve Buscemi and Michael Pitt as the alcoholic gambler Hans Schroeder. Although their relationship timeline eludes public knowledge, he first encountered his wife on the show's set while she worked as a makeup artist.

The pair's romance began and went strong until they decided to tie the knot in 2014. By the end of this year, they would have celebrated their 8th wedding anniversary. They currently reside with their mixed-breed dog, Ruby, in Manhattan. Sikora's parents also approved of their relationship, as his mother said:

"Just a perfect fit for him."

He Once Revealed His Wife Told Him to Get Therapy for His Anger Management Issues

After getting into some trouble a few times because of his anger issues, Sikora said his wife wanted to leave the relationship. He didn't go into detail about the incidents, but he said she was around when they happened. Sikora begged her to stay, and she told him:

"Alright, if you go to therapy, I’ll stay with you."

Sikora agreed and sought treatment. The "True Detective" star later admitted that therapy was good for him and helped him realize how he avoided accountability for his actions and life. It also helped him see that his wife cared enough to offer him "a way out."

Although he almost missed out on starring in "Power" due to audition dates clashing with his wedding, Sikora felt that finding his wife was the first time he loved something more than acting. He credited his life's improvement to her presence.

It's unknown whether the couple has or plans to have any children. However, Sikora's long-time former co-star Omari Hardwick and his wife Jennifer "Jae" Hardwick became first-time parents in 2013, and Jennifer had some internal struggles regarding parenthood.
