Joshua and Turner-Smith met in 2018 at singer Usher's birthday party. According to Turner-Smith, she got attracted to Joshua when she set eyes on him but played hard to get and waited for him to make the first move.

Unlike most relationships that begin with going on dates and knowing each other before getting intimate, Turner-Smith revealed that she and Joshua had a one-night stand the first time they met.

What started as a casual relationship turned into a beautiful and happy marriage, and the couple now shares a daughter, Janie.

Turner-Smith, a mother of one, opened up to People in 2020 about her pregnancy journey and said that it taught her to advocate for herself harder.

The actress recalled how she was in her second trimester and actively involved in filming the 2021 action-thriller film "Without Remorse," in which she starred alongside actor Michael B. Jordan.

Even though she tried to balance working while pregnant, Turner-Smith stated that it was challenging considering it was her first pregnancy, and at that point in time, she lacked knowledge about the changes in her body.

What kept her going was the support she got from her husband and the hot baths she would take in the evening while monitoring their unborn child through an ultrasound machine that they had rented.

Despite being high-profile celebrities, Joshua and Turner-Smith have kept Janie from the spotlight since welcoming her in 2020.

Despite going through many challenges during her pregnancy, Turner-Smith stated that she was proud of the milestones she made during that period.

Jodie Turner-Smith and Joshua Jackson Welcomed Janie at Home

Joshua and Turner-Smith welcomed their daughter Janie in 2020; the couple's representative announced the news and said both mother and baby were healthy. In an interview with Vogue, the actress recalled how so many events occurred the year her daughter was born.

From historical events — the Covid-19 pandemic — to social unrest that got people protesting about the brutal murder of George Floyd. Yet, despite the horrible things that had happened, Turner-Smith had a reason to smile—the birth of her daughter was priceless.

Before Janie's arrival, the couple had concerns about racism and the limited service in the healthcare system during the pandemic.

For that reason, they felt they would be safer with a home birth. The "Queen & Slim" star recalled how she labored for almost four days before giving birth to Janie; she said:

"Early in the morning on my third day of labour, my husband and I shared a quiet moment. I was fatigued and beginning to lose my resolve. Josh ran me a bath, and as I lay in it contracting, I talked to my body and I talked to my daughter."

Speaking about the home birth experience, Joshua stated that Smith wanted to be in a comfortable place. "The Mighty Ducks" star said that he wanted his wife to be in an environment where she was being heard instead of going through the discrimination of being a Black woman in the American medical system.

Janie Jackson Is Already 'Very Opinionated' According to Her Father

Despite being high-profile celebrities, Joshua and Turner-Smith have kept Janie from the spotlight since welcoming her in 2020. Although they have never shared a photo of her face, they post sneak peeks of her hands and legs.

The couple, first-time parents, stated in interviews how they appreciate each other's parenting skills and have unconditional love for their daughter.

Speaking to E! News, Joshua said his biggest lesson as a first-time dad is that one cannot know everything, but the child teaches you as you go. He referred to his daughter as a "Little Boss Lady" because she had an obsession with the end call button, and whenever she didn't feel like talking, she would hang up.

Joshua Jackson's daughter, Janie Jackson, has an unbreakable bond with her father. In an interview, Joshua said that his two-year-old daughter's greatest attribute is that she is "very opinionated" and knows how to express herself.
