Georges LeBar and RuPaul Have Been Together since 1994: Inside Their Relationship
Unlike his famous spouse, RuPaul's husband, Georges LeBar, has chosen a life out of the limelight. After meeting during a night out, RuPaul revealed that the success of their long-lasting romance has been an open relationship.
RuPaul's fame stretches back to the '90s when he was a recording artist and had a show. But he cemented himself as an icon when he became the face of drag racing and one of the most prominent members of the LGBTQ community.
In 2019, when his reality TV show, which doubles as a competition series, was honored with an Emmy Award for outstanding reality competition series, RuPaul took to the stage to share his acceptance speech with an applauding audience.

His husband was a familiar face who showed his support from the crowd. Their contrasting outfits perfectly summed up their personalities. RuPaul walked the purple carpet in a pink and black flamboyant suit while his husband, a rancher, kept it classic and simple in all black.
The Couple Met on a Dance Floor
LeBar and RuPaul have rarely been spotted together at public events since they met in the 1990s New York club scene over twenty years ago. The first time the paparazzi captured the couple in New York, they had been married for twenty-three years.
LeBar is from Australia and 13 years younger than RuPaul. He had years of experience in the fashion industry before becoming a rancher with thousands of acres of land in South Dakota and Wyoming – a place RuPaul noted could get painfully dull at times and was very isolating.

So whenever RuPaul visited, he brought his California flare with him, treating the trip as an excuse to dress for the occasion in western-themed outfits. While he enjoyed the high life in Los Angeles, his husband was the opposite. RuPaul said:
"He doesn't care about showbiz at all. He couldn't care less."
They met dancing in 1994 on LeBar's birthday and decided to commemorate the day they met by getting married on the same date.
The special occasion took place in January 2017 in secret, and during an appearance on Hollywood Today, RuPaul publicly confirmed for the first time that he and LeBar had exchanged vows.

They were not for tradition, and during an interview with The Guardian in 2018, RuPaul revealed that he and LeBar married to protect their assets should something happen to them. Their day-to-day life as a married couple was not a traditional one either.
While LeBar spent most of his time in Wyoming, RuPaul enjoyed the life of an east coaster, which included meditation, yoga, and hikes with a personal trainer. However, they carved out time for each during their lavish trips to Maui or New York.
Besides ensuring they spent quality time together, RuPaul admitted he and LeBar had an open relationship. The drag race show host shared that while they were in a committed relationship, he was comfortable whenever LeBar "(needed) to do something else somewhere else."

RuPaul did not doubt that he was the person LeBar loved, and the feeling was mutual. The couple reached an agreement about an open relationship that saw them ensuring respect and each other's comfort. RuPaul said:
"He would never turn it into something that would make me feel uncomfortable, and I wouldn't do that to him either. To have that on this planet is crazy. It's rare."
The Couple Don't Have Kids
RuPaul grew up in a less fortunate home in San Diego with three sisters and parents that constantly fought before his father left. RuPaul was a child when he knew he was different and when he was 15, he moved to Atlanta to live with one of his sisters and her husband.

By the time he was in his 20s, he was a resident of New York and swiftly becoming a star. He released albums, starred in movies, and became the first male face of Mac. However, in 1999, RuPaul moved to Los Angeles to get sober.
Recently, RuPaul shared that he did not have the time to raise a child. As a model, actor, and TV personality, his lifestyle was not conducive to bringing up a child.
After the success of his TV show, he went on to win consecutive Emmy awards and was named one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People. He loves children, and so does LeBar, but he knew what and how much they needed. He also added that having children was never something he wanted.

However, he was open to becoming a parent should LeBar want children, but RuPaul knew it was something he would have to devote all his time to. He added:
"But who knows? It could still happen, sure. It could happen tomorrow, you know. If he (LeBar) wanted to do it tomorrow, I would do it."
He also jokingly shared that he was not sold on having children because of his dread of interacting with other parents who were close-minded.

RuPaul Wanted a Sweet, Sensitive Man
Before LeBar came into his life, RuPaul revealed that he prayed for a "sweet, sensitive man." And he found what he was looking for in his Australian partner, who is "just lovely."
Much like how Kylie Jenner kept her first pregnancy under wraps, RuPaul and LeBar have managed to keep their romance out of the public eye, but RuPaul could not help but gush about his "kind" and "funny" husband from time to time.
