Stephen 'tWitch' Boss Loved His Grandpa Who Shared Grandson's Last Words to Him before His Passing

Stephen "tWitch" Boss was deeply loved by his grandfather, Eddy Boss.

The grandpa and grandson spoke to each other just days before Stephen's tragic death.

Eddy Boss said he is still suspicious about the cause of his grandson's passing.
"So You Think You Can Dance," star and the "The Ellen Degeneres Show" DJ, Stephen "tWitch" Boss, passed away from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The world was shocked, and tributes immediately began pouring in for him.
While his fans and friends were shocked by his sudden passing, none were more stunned than his family. Boss was married to Allison Holker for nine years. They also welcomed three children together.
Only three days before Boss passed away, he and Holker celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary by posting on Instagram. Boss posted a series of photos of the couple on their wedding day.
Holker posted a video that consisted of a series of photos from the couple's wedding day, set to Adele's "One and Only." Just three days later, Holker had to release a statement announcing her husband's death.
She mentioned that he had passed away and called him "the backbone of [their] family, the best husband, father, and an inspiration to his fans." She then said that his impact on the world would be felt long after he passed.
Holker talked about what her husband valued, saying his family, friends, and community were of utmost importance to him. She closed the statement and asked for privacy for her and her young children. She also told Boss in the statement that she would save the last dance for him.
Boss loved being a father and once called fatherhood his "greatest earthly assignment," and said he loved having young children because there was always a conversation going on at any given time.
Just a few weeks before Boss passed, he and Holker said they would love to start trying for another baby. The couple shared Weslie Renae, 14, Maddox Laurel, six, and Zaia, three.
What Did Boss' Grandfather Say About Him?
Four days before Boss' passing, he took to Instagram to wish his grandfather, Eddy, a happy birthday. Following his passing, Eddy shared his thoughts on the tragic incident and what Boss meant to the family.
Boss and Eddy shared a close relationship, with Boss calling his grandfather "Dad-Dad." Eddy was shocked by his grandson's death and said he couldn't believe the cause of it. He shared:
"Every word has meaning. His last words to me were a simple text that said, "I love you, Dad-Dad." Our question is, why? Where did it come from?"
Eddy confirmed that in the weeks leading up to his grandson's death, there were no signs that he was in any type of distress. Boss' grandfather said he was the same happy-go-lucky person he had always been.
The grandfather talked about how Boss was with him and said they had spoken more than once on his birthday, just four days before Boss passed away. When Eddy got the news, he wasn't sure it was true.
Talking about the kind of person Boss was, and the role that he played in the family as a husband and father, but also a son and grandson, Eddy said:
"He was a very humble, generous person. He brought light into everybody's lives. We're completely devastated right now."
Eddy said: "We miss him dearly, and we're hurting tremendously," before confirming that he had traveled to Arizona, along with Boss' mother, to be with Holker and the children during this difficult time.
What Happened on the Day of Boss' Passing?
On December 13, 2022, news of Boss' death broke, but the day leading up to the announcement was a strange and concerning one for his family. On Tuesday morning, Holker ran into an LAPD station and appeared frantic.
She said that her husband had left the house without his car, which was unlike him to do. He had not been in contact with her or anybody else when he was gone. A short while later, emergency services were called to a nearby hotel.
The hotel was a 14-minute walk from Boss and Holker's home, and hotel staff said that he arrived with only an overnight bag but did not seem distressed. When emergency services arrived at the hotel, they found Boss dead.
His official cause of death was ruled as a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The police officers in Boss' case said no signs of foul play were involved. His family is heartbroken at the loss. RIP, "tWitch."
