Jennifer Aniston Shines with Natural Beauty at 54 & Refuses to Get Botox — People Have Called Her 'Old' & 'Grandma'
Jennifer Aniston was criticized for how she looked at her age, but she accepted herself and refused to get botox. The actress also openly discussed getting gray hair as one aged.
By February 2023, Jennifer Aniston was already 54 but looked ageless with her natural beauty. In 2022, The "Friends" star posed in a series of black and white Instagram photos in which stylist Chris McMillan did her hair.
In the images, the actress also flaunted her toned body in a bikini top. While sitting in a chair as her hairdresser worked, the star looked happy in a pair of high-waisted pants.
Aniston pulled at a necklace around her neck in one of the photos. Although the star looked ageless, some social media users thought she looked old, and on February 11, 2022, her 53rd birthday, one Twitter user shared an image of the actress and wrote:
"Happy Birthday Grandma. It's better to be over the Hill than buried under it 53 years Jennifer Aniston #Jenniferaniston."
A second person uploaded two photos of the star and noted how Aniston was a "grandma." In a post where Aniston spoke about missing the 1990s, someone said they suspected the "grandma" missed being young.
Another Twitter troll shared a post in December 2022 where the actress liked a picture of a man holding a sign criticizing Taylor Swift's fans. The person called the star a "bitter old hag" and a "hater."
The social media user accused the actress of following and liking accounts that hated on people like Duchess Meghan Markle, Angelina Jolie, Amber Heard, and other women who were "more talented" and "beautiful" than her.
While criticizing Sarah Jessica Parker, someone also said Aniston looked "older than she should." In June 2022, another critic called the star an "old hag" because she reportedly supported Johnny Depp in his case against Amber Heard.
The social media user mocked the actress, dared her to keep a man for over two years, and teased her about being almost 70. In an old photo of Aniston posing with Kate Hudson, someone said the latter was making the former look like the "old hag" she was.
Although some people try to bring her down, the actress still keeps herself healthy. In 2020, her personal trainer, Leyon Azubuike, revealed the star exercises for an hour and a half seven times a week!
The workouts depended on where they were in their training cycle. The co-owner of Gloveworx trained Aniston with a "periodization" technique, which meant he broke off the exercise plans into weekly, monthly, or yearly phases.
It allowed Azubuike to adjust accordingly based on Aniston's schedule, meaning sometimes she did three days a week of 45-minute sessions or seven-workout weeks. The star's trainer added:
"If I know Jen isn’t filming anything, it’s a different phase than if I know she’s going to be walking up to receive an award—I’m not going to destroy her legs in the gym the day before."
While internet trolls bash the actress about her age from time to time, that didn't stop her from loving herself as she is. Aniston refuses to do massive or mild alterations to her looks.
Jennifer's Acceptance of Her Age
Aniston had an intelligent answer when asked how she felt about having her pictures (good and bad ones) taken constantly and how that affected her self-esteem. The actress revealed she didn't hold onto any of the photos because they came and went, plus no one cared.
However, Aniston noted that some people spent days on their computers criticizing and insulting celebrities about their alleged ugliness so that they could feel better about themselves. She said she didn't understand that lifestyle.
In a 2014 interview, the actress opened up about the pressures Hollywood imposes on women and how she'd seen women trying to live up to the expectation to look ageless by doing things to themselves. Aniston said she was grateful to have learned from their mistakes so she would not even consider injecting stuff into her face.
The star admitted her heart broke upon seeing women who would look older than they were because of procedures done on them. Instead of trying to stop aging, all that was visible was their insecurities about aging.
She [Jennifer Aniston] felt hair allowed people to express themselves creatively...
During the 2014 interview, Aniston also jokingly revealed how her then-fiancé would place a gun to her head if she touched her face in any way!
In 2019, Aniston embraced turning 50, saying she didn't know what the big deal was because she didn't feel anything different. Her body wasn't shutting down, and she felt amazing physically.
Aniston also thought it strange for people to be told they looked incredible at that age, believing "some etiquette around that dialogue and verbiage" had to be established; she didn't have issues with her appearance.
Wearing Gray Hair
In September 2022, the actress opened up about her thoughts on graying hair and what she thought about keeping them. While she preferred to dye hers, she urged her fans to do what was best for them, adding:
"If you want to go gray, go for it! If you want to keep coloring your hair, that’s great too."
The star believed people should feel confident no matter their choices, whether it was embracing texture or natural color. She felt hair allowed people to express themselves creatively and loved how energy and moods could be changed by a hairstyle alteration, color, or cut, stating:
"Embrace whatever is going to make you happy."
Meanwhile, Aniston prefers her grey hair to be dyed by a professional once a month. "I'm not gonna lie—I don't want grey hair," she admits.
