French-born actor Michael Vartan has starred in many roles throughout his successful career, but he is famous for his part in the 1999 rom-com alongside Drew Barrymore. He has that romantic glow, and fans want to know all about him and his love life.

Michael Vartan's wife, Lauren Skaar, was supposed to be The One, but their sweet love story, as romantic as any movie, was short-lived. The actor's future is a mystery, but some fans are betting on an old flame to brighten up his life.

Michael Vartan was born in France on November 27, 1968. His dad is musician and songwriter Eddie Vartan, his mom is artist Doris Pucher Vartan, and his aunt is the iconic French yé-yé singer Sylvie Vartan.

Instead of music, Michael's passion was for acting, and he studied drama in Los Angeles. He started acting in European movies, and his breakthrough came in the Italian film, "Fiorile." His performance led to roles in Hollywood films like "The Pallbearer" and "To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar."

He then landed the part of Drew Barrymore's love interest in the 1999 rom-com "Never Been Kissed," where his boyish good looks and discreet charm blew the fans away. Since then, he has built a solid career, starring in series like "Alias," "Hawthorne," "Bates Motel," and "The Arrangement."

His professional life blossomed, but his personal life has had its ups and downs. For a while, it looked like Michael had found his happily-ever-after when he married in 2011, but the idyll was short-lived.

Michael Vartan Was Sure His Wife Lauren Skaar Was 'The One,' but Their Love Wasn't Meant to Last

In 2009, Michael met real estate agent Lauren Skaar after he saw her at a grocery store in L.A. The actor approached the pretty blond and gave her his email. And the couple ended up talking and eventually started dating.

Michael quickly fell head over heels in love, and despite having known her for a little over a year, he proposed to Skaar. He confessed:

“We’ve only known each other for a little more than a year, but I literally cannot imagine my life without her. It’s crazy. It’s wonderful.”

In 2011, after a year-long engagement, the couple tied the knot at the Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Beach, California, on April 2, 2011. Skaar wore a stunning Vera Want gown accessorized with a Swarovski crystal belt by Oscar de la Renta.

The actor admitted that in the last scene of the movie when he and Drew kissed, he was embarrassed to feel himself reacting physically to the actress.

The couple had to skip the honeymoon because Michael had to be on set at "Hawthorn" a few days later. Even though the marriage started hopeful, Skaar filed for divorce three years later and asked for spousal support.

Skaar cited irreconcilable differences and handled her divorce without a lawyer. The romance that Michael had hoped would last forever was over.

Michael Vartan's Fans Want Him to Get Back with Jennifer Garner

Michael's work on the series "Alias" alongside actress Jennifer Garner led to a romance. The co-stars dated after Garner divorced Scott Foley, and after their romance ended, they remained close friends.

Michael married Lauren Skaar, and Garner married Ben Affleck, with whom she welcomed three children. In 2018, Garner and Affleck divorced, and fans started buzzing about her friendship with Michael.

Affleck remarried his old flame Jennifer Lopez in 2022. Curiously enough, Michael co-starred with J-Lo in one of his movies, "Monster-in-Law." Even though Michael and Garner are good friends, they have both declared that a romance between them is impossible. Michael stated:

"If it didn't work once, there's a reason it didn't work. Everyone's getting single. It's crazy. Everyone's realizing that is so much easier to be single."

Still, fans won't give up hope of seeing Michael and Garner back together again, and their messages flood Twitter. It doesn't help that Garner sent Michael a sweet message on his 50th birthday, but despite the fans' wishes, they are "just" good friends.

Michael Vartan Confessed He Had 'Feelings' While Kissing Drew Barrymore in 'Never Been Kissed'

Maybe Michael Vartan's fans should be reaching further back into the past, all the way back to 1999 when he co-starred with "50 First Dates" actress Drew Barrymore. In 2021, Barrymore and Michael met in an interview which led to a startling confession.

The actor admitted that in the last scene of the movie when he and Barrymore kissed, he was embarrassed to feel himself reacting physically to the actress. He yelled "Cut" and told everyone he had back pain to hide his enthusiasm.

He kept a tiny plant Barrymore gave him after the film wrapped, and over 23 years later, it is fifteen feet tall. Barrymore is now single and the mother of two children after her divorce from "Friendly Fire" actor Will Kopelman in 2016.

Barrymore has recently admitted she is now ready to start dating again, so it may be the right time for Michael Vartan to get out of the friend zone and take a chance on love again, and the sparks will fly between Josie Grossie and Mr. Coulson again.
