"I learned that nothing in the entertainment industry is real," Mike said.
On December 19, 1960, Mike Lookinland was born before he became a star on "The Brady Brunch." The child actor played the role of the youngest boy in the family after being cast for the character at age nine.
He got the role after having starred in several television commercials. Mike had to dye his sandy brown curly hair a dark color, and it was straightened so he could look like the other male characters in the series.

However, for the resident of the Mount Pleasant, Utah, hair dye would often run down his face because of the lights in the studio. After the show, Mike appeared in "Little House on The Prairie" and was featured on several "Brady Bunch" specials.
He also starred in films like "Towering Inferno" before dropping his Hollywood career. Before he got his "Brady Bunch" role, the star appeared in a bandaid and paper towel commercial.
The actor recalled how easy it was to get work in 1968 if you had red hair and freckles. Speaking about dying his hair for his role as Bobby, Mike said it was a "strange" but "fun" experience.

He also enjoyed being with other children, and they created a tight bond because the rest of the people there were adults working. In 2022, the former actor turned 62 and found something more to dedicate his life to instead of Hollywood life.

Speaking on the Today show, Mike revealed that he was now running a small business. The former actor shared how his company made architectural concrete, mainly for countertops and tables.
During an appearance on "Oprah: Where Are They Now?," the star shared how he struggled to have an everyday life after "The Brady Bunch." He explained how he'd only lived his childhood in his 20s and felt that stage was meant to happen when one was a child because, at age 26, it was dangerous.

Mike also started drinking alcohol heavily and had to choose whether he wanted to live or die with the addiction. In 2019, he was 16 years sober, married to his college sweetheart, and living a better life.
After working for 20 years in film production, Wermuth brought home "How to Make Concrete Countertops" from the library. He found interest in it and told his wife he was quitting his job to make concrete countertops after learning that nothing in the entertainment industry was real, adding:
"Your face, your clothes, what you say -- it's all a fake. I think I was drawn to something more real that I could do myself."
While Mike wasn't the only "The Brady Bunch" star, who built a life for himself after the show ended. Some of his co-stars continued with acting, while others have since passed on.
