Dashiell's father, Harvey Weinstein, revealed the origin of his son's name when he was in an interview with TV hosts Charlie Rose, Norah O'Donnell, and Gayle King. According to the studio mogul, his son's name references his first date with Dashiell's mother.

During the interview, Dashiell's father walked down memory lane about the date. He said that Dashiell's mother walked into the restaurant, accidentally tripped, and fell on her butt. Since it was their first date, Dashielle's father stated that the incident smoothed the rest of the date.

After the scandal, Dashiell and his sister were his mother's priority; she wanted to keep them out of the spotlight and protect their privacy.

He compared the incident to the 1934 mystery/romance film "The Thin Man," in the scene where actress Myrna Loy walked into William Powell. The movie is based on the namesake novel written by Dashiell Hammett. And that's how Dashiell's parents thought of honoring the author by naming their son after him.

Dashiell Weinstein's Father Once Hoped to Enjoy Watching Sports with Him

When Danielle was born, his father was overjoyed and said he couldn't wait to start hanging out with him. Dashiell's birth brought joy to his parents, especially his dad. Even though Dashiell's father adores his daughter, he also desired to have a son with whom he would enjoy watching sports.

During an interview, he jokingly said he was bored taking his daughters every Sunday to the mall for shopping. Even though he would drive his daughter to the mall, they would tell him to park miles away because they didn't want to be seen with him.

The Oscar-winning producer said that his daughters felt embarrassed of him and would tell him that they would meet him at a pizza joint four miles away once they were done shopping.

Dashiell Weinstein Loves Animals — His Mom Once Contemplated Moving to a Farm

When Dashiell's father's scandal exploded, his mother was stressed out about the allegations bestowed upon her husband. To keep her family safe from the public spotlight and the drama, Dashiell's mother fled to Los Angeles with him and his sister.

Dashiell's mother revealed that at some point, she thought of moving to a farm upstate, considering Dashiell's affinity for animals, a trait he shares with his sister. Speaking to Vogue, Dashiell's mother said:

"As soon as this happened, I had this crazy vision: I know what I need to do. I need to move to a farm upstate. My daughter loves riding; my son responds to animals. I need to build a farm."

In a statement with The Hollywood Reporter, Dashiell's mother sympathized with women who had been victims of rape and condemned Harvey Weinstein's actions and declared that she had separated from him.

He was previously married to Eve Clinton. The couple called it quits after 17 years of marriage and welcomed three kids together before their divorce in 2007.
