The actress revealed what she wants her grandchildren to call her.
Kathie Lee Gifford, the famous TV personality, singer, and actor, recently celebrated Christmas with her sizeable family. The family had an extra memorable holiday this year, since Kathie's first grandson, Frank Micheal Gifford, had his very first Christmas this year.
The Giffords celebrated the holiday in style, with little Frankie all kitted out in an adorable little Santa Claus outfit. Kathie's daughter-in-law, Erika Gifford, shared several photos over Christmas, most showing Frankie enjoying himself while surrounded by green, white, and red decorations.
Erika filled the time leading up to Christmas with photos of Frankie in his Santa suit and expressed how happy she was to share this year's holiday with him. She captioned one image, saying all her Christmas wishes have come true now that she gets to celebrate the year with Frankie and her family.
Kathie shared her thoughts on Twitter in a paragraph that conveyed how exciting it was to watch her kids grow up and start their own families.
Erika, her husband Code Gifford, and their son had matching Christmas stockings, and the mom and dad even made little Frankie a gingerbread house with his name sprawled on the front in colored candy letters. Another series of photos showed Frankie sitting in a hat with "My 1st Christmas" written on the front.
How Did Kathie React to News of the Second Grandbaby?
But Little Frankie isn't the only thing that brought the Gifford family joy this holiday season. Kathie's daughter, Cassidy Gifford, and her husband, Ben Wierda, made Kathie's holiday when they announced they were having a baby. The actress was over the moon, of course, and shared her excitement on social media.
Kathie's late husband, Frank Gifford, was a famous NFL star, and her son grew up trying to follow in his footsteps for a long time.
The TV personality made three different posts sharing the happy news. Kathie shared her thoughts on Twitter in a paragraph that conveyed how exciting it was to watch her kids grow up and start their own families. She praised her daughter and son-in-law for the people they are and said they would make great parents:
"Hard to imagine anything more thrilling in life than watching your children fall in love, marry their long, desired love, and then create the most perfect gift of all. I am rejoicing with them!"
She also took to Instagram with two posts showing her joy at the prospect of getting another grandchild. She posted two photos of stockings hanging on the mantle of a fireplace. The middle stocking was a small child's sock, hinting at the new baby.
What Did Kathie Say about Her First Grandchild?
When Cody and Erika announced they were going to have a baby, Kathie was ecstatic. The TV personality spoke to her former co-host, Hoda Kotb, about being a grandmother, and she made it clear that she couldn't wait to help raise the little one. She also mentioned that the parents decided to name their son after Cody's late dad:
"I was surprised Cody named him after his dad because Cody knew what it was like to grow up in the shadow of a great man ... he was his hero and he still is."
Kathie's late husband, Frank Gifford, was a famous NFL star, and her son grew up trying to follow in his footsteps for a long time. The football hero unexpectedly passed away in 2015, leaving the family shocked and, understandably, heartbroken. However, Cassidy and Cody were grateful for their time with their "hero."
The family managed to move on from the tragic loss of their father and husband, and seven years later, Cody honored his dad by naming his son after him. Now, the Gifford family is blessed with two new members. The new baby will be delivered in June 2023, making Kathie a grandma twice in less than a year.
The TV host opened up about potential nicknames when Frankie came along. Kathie considered what she wanted her grandkids to call her and eventually settled on a monicker of Jewish origin after consulting a friend. Kathie settled on the name "Bubbie," which means "dearest one."
