Alan Jackson's Grandbaby Enjoyed 1st Christmas: He Got Emotional after Realizing He'd Be a Grandpa

Singer Alan Jackson recently became a first-time grandparent after his daughter Alexandra "Ali" Jackson and her husband welcomed a baby boy on December 13, 2022.

On December 16, 2022, the proud grandad wrote on Instagram that he and his wife, Denise Jackson, were marking their wedding anniversary with the newest addition to the Jackson family.

"Denise and I are celebrating our 43rd wedding anniversary with our new grandson Jackson Alvie Bradshaw." Alan penned alongside a photo of him, Denise, and their infant grandchild.

This Christmas baby spent his first festive season surrounded by loving family members. Alan's eldest daughter, Mattie Jackson, shared pictures of the 1-week-old baby Jack on social media.

The brunette beauty wished her Instagram followers a "Merry Christmas," adding she "Couldn't have had a better day with my two #1 guys," referring to her fiance and her newborn nephew, Jack.

In two of the snapshots, the little one was pictured fast asleep, and the third showed him being fed by his aunt Mattie who happily smiled at the camera while holding him.

Why Is Becoming a Grandpa So Precious for Alan?

Being a grandfather means a lot to Alan, who revealed that he had been diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth, a degenerative nerve condition. He was diagnosed with it ten decades ago.

The medical condition has affected the country crooner's mobility – making him unable to walk. Alan spoke candidly about his health issue in an exclusive interview with the "TODAY" show in 2021.

The father of three divulged that he suffers from a "neuropathy and neurological disease" which he "inherited" from his father. "There's no cure for it," he revealed.

The Georgia native explained that his condition worsens every time and that he often struggles on stage as he loses his balance when performing. He even experiences trouble with the microphone.

Although CMT affects the peripheral nervous system, it is not life-threatening. "It's not going to kill me," the songwriter disclosed. Still, though it cannot be cured, it can be treated with supportive therapy.

Through it all, the "Remember When" singer is supported by his loving wife, Denise, whom he met in high school. The pair have been married for over four decades now, and she said they lean on each other most of the time, adding so far, they have lived a good life:

"When I'm down, he lifts me up. When he's down, I try to lift him up."

Meanwhile, her famous spouse said he wants to leave behind a legacy of his music which he perceives as the "most important thing." Denise once mentioned that their future grandkids would be able to better understand him if he is no more with his music:

"He'll have so many songs for our grandchildren and our great-grandchildren to hear and know who he was."

Alan's Emotional Reaction to His Daughter's Pregnancy

Thanks to Alexandra, the couple are now grandparents of one, and their grandchild would get to listen to grandpa Alan's music growing up. Before starting a family, Alexandra and her husband Sam wed in July 2020.

Her older sister Mattie congratulated the newlyweds on Instagram, penning a lengthy post about the wedding day, and sharing a series of images from the ceremony. "This beautiful woman went from miss to "Mrs." a few weeks ago," wrote Mattie.

In July 2022, proud dad Alan emotionally announced on social media that his second daughter Alexandra was expecting her first child – adding he could not wait for the baby to be born.

"Our baby is having a baby. Denise and I can't wait to meet our first grandson in December! AJ," he captioned his post.

Alan posted a throwback black and white photo of him and Alexandra on her wedding day, taking to the dance floor for the father-and-daughter dance.

Another picture displayed her and her beloved husband, Sam, posing with their arms wrapped around each other while she cradled her growing baby bump.
