Does Richard Rankin Have a Wife? The 'Outlander' Star's Love Life Is a Mystery
When playing Roger Mackenzie in the historical drama series, "Outlander," Richard Rankin is a married man who had traveled through time to find his future wife. However, in reality, the actor's dating life is like the science of time travel -- it remains a mystery.
The Scottish actor does not discuss his romantic life in interviews or display it on social media. There has been speculation about him dating Cara Theobold, but neither of them commented on it. Furthermore, the chemistry Rankin shares with his on-screen wife in "Outlander" has raised a few eyebrows.
However, the actor still seems to be unmarried and unattached. When not acting, he spends much time working on his photography, singing, and playing guitar.

Is Richard Rankin Married or Dating Anyone?
Rankin's relationship status is a secret that has been well-kept for most of his career. The actor seems to like keeping much of his private life away from the media; hence, it is difficult to know who he is dating.
When there is a lack of confirmation, most people speculate, which has been the case with Rankin. There were rumors that the actor was dating his "The Syndicate" co-star Cara Theobold. The story about the two British nationals being together was first conjured up in 2015.
However, neither of them ever confirmed their alleged relationship. That was a rare occasion for the actor as he hasn't been in the news for his relationships again after that. If any dating has happened, it seems he is not ready to share it with his curious and expectant fanbase.

Is There Anything between Richard Rankin and His On-Screen Love, Sophie Skelton?
In "Outlander," Rankin's character plays the husband of Brianna Fraser, a character portrayed by Sophie Skelton. The stars also maintain their close relationship off-screen, which has fueled the idea that they may be dating for real.
Many couples have played on-screen husband and wife and dated in real life. Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz, Jesse Plemons and Kirsten Dunst, and Kirsten Bell and Dax Shepherd, are just a few in that category.
However, unlike the other stars, theirs has remained just a rumor. Skelton talked about their relationship in an interview, saying:
"We bicker and we're kind of like brother and sister that get on each other's nerves a lot of the time. But I think that's great because I think that really seeps into the screen version where actually you can show that."

Richard Rankin Has Other Passions Apart from Acting
Although Rankin, who appeared alongside Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller in "Burnt," has mastered the art of acting, he is also a jack of other trades. Known primarily for his work in front of the camera, he is also handy behind it and is establishing himself as a skilled photographer.
His passion for photography even got him a one-night exhibition at Littlefield Gallery in New York City. The show, titled "His Mind's Eye," has eye-catching scenery shots of his travels. He also shares some of the images on his Instagram, including behind-the-scenes pictures of the "Outlander" set.

Moreso, Rankin's other passion lies in his incredible voice. While in "Outlander," he displayed some of his singing abilities. At one stage, he had to perform "Devil in the Kitchen," but the song was hard to learn, so he had to rehearse a lot which "drove everyone absolutely mental."
However, an amateur musician in real life, he was eventually able to get the song right. Skelton praised her co-star, saying, "To be fair, it was ridiculously difficult, and he nailed it, so the rehearsal was worth it, but now he can pay for my counseling sessions."
