Entertainment superstars Beyonce and Jay Z have been blessed with three children in their long-term relationship dating back around two decades. Their oldest, Blue Ivy, has already become a prominent figure by making regular public appearances, which is not the same for her younger siblings.

Beyonce and Jay Z welcomed twins Rumi and Sir Carter in 2017. Just as their older sister's pregnancy and delivery garnered massive attention, the anticipation of the twins' birth and excitement following their arrival was evident in both announcements breaking Instagram's most-liked post records.

Older sister, Blue Ivy, is said to have prayed for the birth of her younger siblings and felt responsible for them after their birth, being well involved in their day-to-day activities. Although the twins are a rarity in public, some information is already known about them.

The World Awaited Blue Ivy's Siblings' Arrival

After the power couple announced they were expecting twins in February 2017, many fans were excited and waited in anticipation for the new Carter family members. Beyonce announced on Instagram, writing:

"We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over. We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes. - The Carters"

Although the disclosure made for phenomenal news, it was much more low-key than that of Blue Ivy's pregnancy. That announcement was made during Beyonce's performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2011. However, during her pregnancy with the twins, she made several public appearances and performances.

Despite fans being aware of Jay-Z becoming a father of three, not much else was known about their birth. That included details about where they were born, the exact date, or their names. A month after their birth, Queen Bey made a follow-up post in which she notified the world of her children's names and birthdays.

The twins — a boy and a girl — were named Sir Carter and Rumi Carter, respectively. Their parents reportedly secured exclusive rights to their names by filing trademark documents. The post, captioned "Sir Carter and Rumi 1 month today," was received with great enthusiasm by fans and broke the record for the most-liked Instagram post.

Confirmed to have been born on June 13, 2017, the twins' names also attracted considerable attention, with some fans wondering why the celebrity couple had chosen those names. During an appearance on the "Rap Radar Podcast," Jay Z explained their choice of names, saying:

"Rumi is our favorite poet, so it was for our daughter. And then Sir was, like, man, come out the gate. He carries himself like that. He just came out, like, Sir."

Arguably the most excited about the newest additions to the Carter family was older sister Blue Ivy, who — per grandmother Tina Knowles — prayed for the twins' arrival. This made Blue Ivy feel responsible for them as she stayed involved in their upbringing by feeding and helping them choose their clothes.

Rumi and Sir Are Rarely Seen in Pictures

Despite being children of two of the most famous people, Rumi and Sir do not feature in too many pictures. Their parents rarely share photos of the two, and even when they share, they often delete the images after they are posted.

The reason behind this is not very clear. Perhaps, Beyonce and Jay Z (birth name Shawn Carter) are keen on protecting their children's privacy. Still, the fact that they share their pictures sometimes shows that they are not too strict about it.

The twins' parents are not the only ones that share snaps of the adorable little Carters. Some people close to the family have also posted pictures showing the twins. For example, in 2022, Blue Ivy's stylist, Manuel A Mendez's Instagram, got much attention after gifting the world a picture of all five members of the Carter household.

A few months ago, Beyonce also shared a cute picture of her twins. Alongside the entire family dressed up for Halloween as characters from Disney+'s "The Proud Family," Rumi looked adorable in a pink dress and matching headband while Sir wore a cheeky smile in an orange tee and purple shorts. The snap showed that the twins were growing up well.

Blue Ivy's Siblings Are Both in the Family Business

The Carters are not just popular; they are wealthy, and the business-minded parents have multiple avenues of generating riches. Besides their individual businesses, Beyonce and Jay Z also include their children, with whom they have collaborated on various projects.

In 2021, Rumi appeared alongside her mother and older sister, Blue Ivy, in a promotion for Beyonce's clothing line Ivy Park's collaboration with Adidas. The video showed both kids wearing matching houndstooth outfits with their mother.

The marketing video also featured other celebrities and celebrity children, including Reese Witherspoon's kids, Ava and Deacon Phillippe, and Kobe Bryant's daughter Natalia Bryant. Basketball star player James Harden made a brief cameo, twirling a basketball while sitting at the chairman's desk.

Rumi and Sir Carter have made several impressions in their parents' music videos despite being a rarity on their social media platforms. While making the album "Black Is King," Queen Bey included her family in the project. Rumi, technically the older twin, was featured in the making of the "Brown Skin Girl" video.

Not to be left out, Sir is seen at the end of the production in his mother's emotional dedication. Beyonce noted that "Black is King" is "Dedicated to my son, Sir Carter, and to all our sons and daughters, the sun and moon bow for you. You are the keys to the kingdom."
