After his father landed the leading role in "Hawaii Five-O," Saxon O'Loughlin, Alex O'Loughlin's son, and his actor father relocated to the beautiful island. There, Saxon O'Loughlin's father married a local girl, and Saxon O'Loughlin became the eldest son of a blended family.

Saxon was born in July 1996, during his parents' past relationship. Of Irish and Scottish descent, he originates from a family of considerable skills as his father is a famous actor, his paternal grandmother was a nurse in Australia, and his paternal grandfather was a teacher.

He is Alex's first child and tagged along when his father relocated to Hawaii for his career. Despite spending a few years on the island, Saxton found his way back to Australia but kept in contact with his father and their blended family.

Saxon O'Loughlin Became an Island Boy When His Dad Moved to Hawaii

In 2010, Saxon's father bought a $4 million home at Diamond Head, Waikiki, before he met Saxton's stepmother, pro-surfer Malia Jones. A few years after his father bought their new house, he invited friends from his home in Australia to help him rebuild his and Saxton's new home, a midcentury modern home.

During the renovations, Saxton's father was in charge of building the standings for a wooden deck that had a beautiful view of a beach but decided to leave the flooring to a professional.

After enrolling in a "good school," Saxton and his family spent their time surfing — even though his father admitted to not being the best— and playing sports. His father said:

"I love it here (Oahu); it's my home. I want to raise the kids here. I think it's a great base geographically for me as well because it's not as far away from Sydney as LA, but it's not as far away from LA as Sydney."

After Saxon and his father put down roots in Hawiia, his dad revealed that his son became a "local." Other than the scenic views of the beautiful island, Alex shared that he grew to appreciate the energy of Hawaii, which kept him inspired in his work life. "It's a special place," he said.

In 2014, Saxton's father appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and shared that Saxton was already 6 foot when he was 15. "It's terrifying," he humorously said before joking that his "rowdy" boy might not be his, seeing how tall he was in compassion to his father.

Saxon O'Loughlin Grew up in a Blended Family

Saxton's stepmother entered his life with a young son, Spike, who she shared with fellow professional surfer Luke Stedman, before she gave birth to Saxton's second younger brother, Lion, in 2012.

And while Saxton was "rowdy" as a teenager, his father shared that Saxton's half-brother was a little more "measured." A year later, Saxton's father and stepmother tied the knot in a low-key ceremony, and his blended family soon turned into a "man factory."

Whenever Father's Day rolled around each other, Saxton and his brothers were at the mercy of their father, who joked that he enjoyed sending them around on his special day instead of being the one sent around. Saxton's father said:

"I get to say, 'It's Father's Day, you go get me a thing'... I get to make unreasonable demands."

Saxon Is Now Grown & Moved Back to Australia to Start Working

Like Jason Momoa, Saxton spent many years in Hawaii. However, he made his way back to Australia to start an apprenticeship. As a result, he was away from his father for a while. However, the father and son reunited in 2015 when Saxton's father brought his stepmom, stepbrother, and half-brother to Australia.

It was the first time Saxton's stepbrother and half-brother had visited Australian shores, and it was the first Christmas Saxton's father had spent in his home country in years.

"Also, the little ones haven’t been home so that will be great too...(the grandparents) are going to get crazy," he said while sharing that he looked forward to catching up with friends and family.
