Her daughter just gave a rare glimpse of her mom's private grandparenting.
Susan Sarandon, one of Hollywood's it girls in the early 90s, had an incredibly successful career in Hollywood. She was a household name and built a wonderful reputation as an excellent and beautiful actress.
However, her personal life was less full than her professional one. Until she was 39, she didn't have children. When she finally welcomed her daughters, fans worldwide were unsure it was the right thing to do.
When Sarandon first announced that she was pregnant with her first child, her daughter Eva, she said:
"Everyone's telling me, 'You are crazy. You know your career is going so well, and you can't have a baby now."
However, Sarandon cheerfully welcomed her daughter and later said, "I never had any regrets." Her daughter is now grown and also an actress. The mother-daughter duo has even starred in some titles together.
Since she became a mother, she said that was her main priority, rather than her career in Hollywood. A friend of Sarandon's said her main priority is her three children, and they are also her first love.
Sarandon welcomed Eva with her ex, Franco Amurri, and her next two children, Jack and Miles, with her ex Tim Robbins. She has said her children will always be of the utmost importance to her. She mentioned:
"I'm gonna be a mother much longer than I'm gonna be an actor."

Sarandon's family and friends have often commented on how much she loves her children and what it means to her to be a mother. While she loves her acting career, her children are her primary source of happiness.
Unique "Grandma Name" and Necklace
Sarandon's children have also given her grandchildren on whom she dotes. Her first grandchildren, Marlowe, was born in 2014 to Eva and her husband, Kyle Martino. Sarandon even turned down going to Burning Man so she could spend more time with Marlowe.
While Sarandon loves being a grandmother, she said she doesn't like being called a grandma. In fact, her grandchildren have a special name for her, which she says is much easier to answer to instead of grandma.
After sharing that she didn't like to be called "grandma," she shared the sweet name that her grandchildren actually called her. It is a sweet name that is easy for them to say, and she loves hearing it.

Eva bought her mother a necklace that says "Honey," which is her "grandma name." She talked about how her granddaughter refers to her, gushing:
"And she looked across the table and said, 'Honey is my best friend,' and that's all I needed."
Sarandon talked about the necklace her daughter bought her, and she said she wears it all the time. It is one of her greatest treasures because it reminds her of how her grandchildren refer to her.
At the same time, Sarandon said being part of a family helps you to love and appreciate all the moms in your life because you know how hard they're trying to be the best they can for their family.
Since her first granddaughter arrived, her family has expanded again, and she now has three grandchildren. She dotes on each of them and often shows them off to her fans on her social media pages.
Sarandon's daughter says that she is a "more structured" parent than her mother was when she was growing up. She said her mother would often take her onto movie sets and shows, which she loved, but she doesn't do the same with her daughter.
Eva took a break from acting for a while to raise her daughter differently from how she was raised. She wanted her daughter to have a more normal childhood than she had on the sets of movies. She said:
"I just wanted to be putting my energy into something that I felt was just constructing something more positive in my life and for my daughter, especially."
Talking about how she felt regarding her daughter's parenting choices, Sarandon said she was proud of her daughter's maternal instincts. She said her daughter was fierce, funny, and a strong woman who she admires and loves very much, despite their different parenting styles.
When asked how she felt before her granddaughter was born, she said it felt similar to when she was pregnant because she thought about it rationally, but some part of her couldn't believe her daughter would have a child.
While it was difficult for her to believe, it was not an unhappy thought. She said it was "beautiful and huge" that the child she gave life would be giving life to a child herself, who she could love for the rest of her life.
Real Life as a Grandma of Little Ones
Since Marlowe's birth in 2014, Eva and Sarandon have both been tight-lipped about family life. However, they share glimpses into their family lives on social media from time to time, showing the children off and sharing the family bond they have, which is close and unique.

Usually, Eva shares photos of only sunsets, her surroundings, and the like. Occasionally, though, she shares more about her personal life and how her mother is with her children. She shared one moment like this to her Instagram stories. In it, her son can be seen drawing while her mother sits on the couch with her daughter, reading a book under a cozy blanket.
In the story before that one, Eva showed that her mother had arrived there at 7 a.m. so she could spend the entire day with her grandchildren. Eva also shared that her children tried rolled ice cream for the first time. She said they loved it.
