Sanjay Wrote a Poem to Rebecca, Asking Her to Marry Him in the Last Line

When Rebecca Olson Gupta first visited Charleston, she knew it would be a perfect spot for a wedding, and at the time, she didn't know that one day she would celebrate her special day in the area. But before the couple's big day, Sanjay's proposal was one of a kind.

In an interview, Sanjay revealed that he wrote a poem to Rebecca, and in the last line, he asked her to marry him. But at first, he became nervous when Rebecca read it since it was over a page long, and he wasn't sure if she would get to the last part.

But everything turned out fine, and before Rebecca could finish reading the poem, Sanjay was down on one knee. Rebecca has since kept the poem framed and reads it daily. The couple exchanged vows on May 15, 2004, in Charleston, South Carolina, in a Hindu wedding ceremony.

Speaking about the big day, Rebecca revealed that choosing the venue was a piece of cake. Since she and her husband were from Michigan, they wanted to make the wedding special for their family members.

The pair settled for a Hindu ceremony that honored Sanjay's culture, but at the same time, they incorporated a few western customs. Both families participated in the traditional Hindu rituals, such as the bride being carried in on a chair lifted by her brothers.

Sanjay and his wife share three daughters. Their eldest child is Sage Ayla Gupta; she was born in 2005, a year after their wedding. Their middle child Sky Anjahi Gupta was born in 2007, and their youngest daughter Soleil Asha Gupta was born in 2009.

Despite Rebecca and Sanjay having demanding jobs, the couple has mastered balancing work and parenthood. Occasionally, they spend quality time with their children touring different destinations. The couple also owns three dogs. Even though Rebecca's husband is famous, he rarely talks about their children.

However, the father of three once shared in an interview about an incident that happened when he visited his daughters' school after sharing a medical report about the health hazards of sugar.

During the school meeting, filled with parents, the school principal located Sanjay, where he was seated and assured him that after watching him explain the effects of sugar, the institution was committed to not serving any more sugar.
