Lacey Hester Lost Her Brother in 2009

Lacey revealed in 2022 in an Instagram post that for many years, she has suffered from depression. She wanted, above all, to call attention to mental health issues and encourage people to seek help.

Since 2009, following the death of her older brother David Cody Luttrull, Lacey has been advocating to bring mental health issues and substance abuse out into the open to help people get the help they need. She said:

"If I could just save one sister from getting to miss hating her brother's girlfriends, it would all be worth it for me."

Cody's death at the age of 23 was devastating for the family. The young man had recently become engaged and landed the job of his dreams when he succumbed to an overdose; at the time of Cody's death, Lacey was 20, and the loss of her big brother broke her heart.
