Kelly Osbourne Was Hounded for Being 'Fat' & Ended Up in Rehab — Her Father Supports His ‘Beautiful’ Daughter
Kelly Osbourne had a complex childhood which led her to obesity problems.
All her life, she faced fat shaming but tried not to pay attention to it.
She had a breakdown after 4 years of sobriety and receiving an insulting message in her mail.
Kelly Osbourne is the daughter of the heavy metal rocker Ozzy Osbourne and television host Sharon Osbourne. She was born on October 27, 1984.
Kelly grew up traveling with her beloved father and lived in multiple homes between the UK and the US. She rose to prominence thanks to her family's Emmy Award-winning reality show, "The Osbournes."

Like her famous dad, Kelly is also a singer. She released an album called "Shut Up!" in 2002 and later recorded a duet with Ozzy called "Changes."
Two years later, in 2004, she pursued an acting career and starred in the drama series, "Life as We Know It." The British-born star also appeared in "The Queen's Handbag," "Sharknado 2: The Second One," and the TBS sitcom, "Are We There Yet?"

Kelly dabbled in theater and made her debut as the prison matron in the musical, "Chicago" at the Cambridge Theater in London.
The actress also competed in "Dancing with the Stars" in 2009 and came third in the reality competition alongside her partner, Louis Van Amstel. Kelly also came ninth on Season 2 of "The Masked Singer" in 2019.
Kelly Had a Difficult Childhood
While growing up in the public eye, bad influences surrounded Kelly. Her father, Ozzy, constantly needed to be cared for as he was addicted to drugs and alcohol.
The Black Sabbath lead vocalist was barely there for his daughter as he was emotionally unavailable when she was a teenager—mainly under the influence most of the time.
Aware of his bad habits, Ozzy cautioned his child to avoid them so she would not end up like him. However, that advice fell on deaf ears, it appears.
At the tender age of thirteen, Kelly became addicted to prescription pills. That came after she had tonsilitis and had to undergo surgery.
Kelly's doctors prescribed Vicodin, which became too much for her to handle, especially at her age. At the time, she already had self-esteem issues and used her medication as a coping mechanism.
The prescribed medicine led her to experiment with other substances, and her self-esteem issues escalated. Her wild lifestyle became a factor, and she made some bad choices along the way.
Consequently, young Kelly ended up in rehab seven times. She lost her self-control, and professionals stepped in to get the influences she used to numb her pain under control.

At one point, her mother, Sharon, realized rehab wasn't working, so she had her locked up in a padded cell as a scare tactic to force Kelly to sobriety. But that did not work either.
The model's addictions overpowered any intervention and affected her emotional and mental state. She ended up in two mental institutions, and professionals helped her overcome her self-esteem and depression issues.

However, in April 2021, she revealed she had relapsed after four years of sobriety. She admitted she was "not proud of it." The Hollywood star went to rehab when she was nineteen years old and had since been working on recovering.
Kelly appeared on "Red Table Talk" in September 2022 and disclosed she went back to seeking treatment after relapsing.
Kelly Endured Fat-Shaming
Apart from her addiction issues, Kelly has faced fat-shaming all her life. She lost 90 lbs in 2021 and got candid about it in an interview, saying people had been so fixated on her appearance:
"Everyone was so, like, caught up in how I look. They never asked me how I felt."

She added she did it for herself: "I did it for me. I did it because I wanted to live. What I saw in the mirror, I wanted the body to match the mind because I spent so much time working on my mind, and then I spent a year working on my body."
In 2021, Kelly revealed she received a "fat-shaming" email from a tabloid and called out the publication. She addressed the issue on social media by posting a screenshot of the email she allegedly received from the National Enquirer.

In the email, the sender alerted the fashion designer that the outlet planned on publishing a story claiming she "put on a tremendous amount of weight after slimming down significantly earlier this year."
In the screenshot, sources were quoted saying Kelly had "been dealing with the stress of her relapse by eating," adding that if the TV personality desired to comment on the speculations, she should respond to the email or contact the editor-in-chief.

In response, the former reality TV star wrote: "This is what I deal with on a daily basis," while encouraging her Instagram followers to "feel free" to get in touch with the outlet and "tell them what you think about them fat-shaming me."
In a follow-up post, Kelly spoke frankly about the problems she endured in the year prior and that she was not "happy" and "healthy," which was the most important thing to her. She acknowledged that she was working on bettering herself.

The comments came after Kelly revealed she had relapsed but assured fans that she was "back on track" and she was okay.
Kelly noted she realized recovery takes a while and wanted to be forthright with them because she does not want to come across as a dishonest person.

She first spoke out about her sobriety in 2018, saying she was one year sober in August 2018 and celebrated two years of sobriety a year later.
She thanked her loved ones for supporting her and encouraged those going through the same struggles to keep being sober. Kelly once said she was focusing on putting herself first above anything else.
When talking about the reason behind her relapse, the "So Undercover" star disclosed she suffered a "nervous breakdown" during lockdown:
"I'm an addict and had thought that I had enough time under my belt and I could drink like a normal person. And it turns out, I cannot, and I will never be normal. I don't know why I even tried it."

Kelly felt obligated to speak openly about the relapse because she will have to deal with addiction her entire life. Therefore, she wanted to be accountable for her journey.
The English native previously opened up about her weight journey in a 2020 interview and revealed she shed weight after undergoing a gastric sleeve surgery. She also stated that she worked hard at it:
"The kind of surgery I had, if you don't work out and you don't eat right, you gain weight. All it does is move you in the right direction. This has been two years of me working on this."

Kelly explained that she had to figure out what she wanted in her career and questioned whether she could even lose the weight. "I did, and I figured out I wanted to keep going."
The "Fashion Police" star noted she did not go through the process for anyone else but herself, adding it was a lengthy process, "and now I'm here, and everybody is noticing."
Initially, there were rumors of her having plastic surgery to lose weight, and she proudly admitted she had. "I did it, I'm proud of it," said Kelly at the time.
She stated she did not "care" about people's opinions while appearing on the "Hollywood Raw" podcast hosted by Dax Holt and Adam Glyn.
The movie star explained the operation changed one's stomach shape and she would "never lie about it ever," emphasizing having the surgery was "the best thing" she had ever done.
Throughout the years, the English native has been heavily criticized and made fun of for her weight. In June 2012, one Twitter user called Kelly out for always talking about other people's appearance and used it as an opportunity to swipe at her weight. "Kelly Osbourne always talking about somebody's body. Shut up, porky."
In November 2013, one Twitter user wrote, "Why is Kelly Osbourne fat again?" Another user mocked her in a February 2018 post, writing, "I'd like to thank Kelly Osbourne for proving to me that us chubby-faced white women can slay in pixie cuts."
Support from Family
Throughout her difficult journey, Kelly's family has been by her side, especially her mom and dad. "My parents have been so incredible; I feel indebted to them. For how they have changed to help me, and it's one of the best gifts that they could have ever given me," she divulged.
The "CSI: Cyber" star further explained that her famous parents made such an effort to support her that "they stopped trying to fix me."
Ozzy and Sharon have steered away from molding their child to become the daughter they want her to be and allowed her to evolve independently and become her authentic self.
There has been a dramatic change, especially for Kelly and her mom, as she revealed they had not been at loggerheads for over a year. "Which is huge," she admitted.
When it comes to her dad, he has learned to listen to her when she speaks, takes note of what she says, and "acknowledges" her stance and how she feels.
The singer-songwriter also gives his daughter advice, to which she admitted, "Not always do I love his advice." However, Kelly is grateful that her father has come around in that he no longer disregards what she says but pays attention and "takes time."

While everything is all good and well, Kelly is even happier that she has become a parent. She and her boyfriend, Sid Wilson, a musician, became first-time parents at the end of 2022.
The couple welcomed a baby boy named Sidney, after his father. Kelly, 38, and her partner announced that they were expecting in May 2022.
She also revealed that she would not be breastfeeding her baby so that she could still take her medication. However, friends and relatives judged her for her decision, she said, adding people warned her that she would not be able to bond with her child if she chose to go that route.
Kelly defended her decision and said her well-being is also a priority and that she is well aware that she would miss out on bonding with her newborn but that her choice would benefit both of them in the long run.
Meanwhile, after being friends with the father of her child for two decades, they officially announced they were dating in January 2022. The Slipknot rocker and Kelly met in 1999 at the Ozzfest.

On Wilson's 45th birthday, the new mom shared photos of them on her social media, and shortly after, an insider revealed to People that the two are "very happy together."
Days after the outlet confirmed their relationship, Kelly documented her trip to Italy and Ireland with her pal, Klip Zachary, aka Wilson. She wrote alongside a large, screen-printed pillow of his face and said, "Everywhere I go I take my baby with me."
After that post, Kelly shared another quote on her Instagram Story and tagged Wilson. She said his laughter brings a smile to her face, and how he talks "gives me butterflies," adding, "everything about him makes me happy."
In February 2022, the pair were spotted in a rare sighting in Los Angeles, heading to a family gathering. They were photographed donning dark clothes as they made a stop for a birthday party held for Kelly's niece, Minnie, her brother Jack's daughter.
When the lovebirds marked their first Valentine's Day, Kelly happily gushed over her lover. She posted a gallery of his pictures on social media and paid a heartfelt tribute to him.
The "Tents" star expressed disbelief about how long she and the Iowa native had been friends and now turned lovers. "After 23 years of friendship, I can't believe where we have ended up!" she wrote alongside a photo of the duo kissing.
Kelly said Wilson is her "best friend, my soulmate and I am so deeply in love with you, Sidney George Wilson," she proclaimed alongside a purple heart emoji.
Kelly is not the only one madly in love. The TV star's dad was overjoyed to learn she would be a mom. In July 2022, Ozzy expressed excitement at his daughter being pregnant, saying:
"Kelly is big, and she's beautiful and I love it."
The Prince of Darkness was at San Diego's Comic-Con when he revealed that Kelly was six months along in her pregnancy. When asked what he would gift his grandchild for the first time, he said he would get the baby "a microphone."
Kelly announced her pregnancy on her social media, telling her millions of fans that she had been scarce for some time and would reveal why.
"I am over the moon to announce that I am going to be a Momma. To say that I am happy does not quite cut it. I am ecstatic!" she penned.
