Marieangela King Was Elijah Blue's Wife & Now She Is Building a Solo Career
Elijah Blue Allman's ex-wife, Marieangela King, had an unconventional childhood, growing up in a cult and being prohibited from engaging with the outside world's pop culture. She married Cher's son in 2013, even after the legendary singer withheld her blessing on the union.
Marieangela King became a musician against all odds with her siblings, though their history with performance art began when they were children. They later formed the German pop group KING and signed a record deal with EMI Germany.
The band skyrocketed to fame, but King eventually went solo to create her own brand of music. With her primary musical influence being the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, she now goes by Queeny King and is making moves in the industry.
And while King has made a name for herself as an artist, she's most famous for her marriage with Elijah Blue Allman. The pair had married against Cher's wishes but hoped the "Turn Back Time" songstress would come around.
Marieangela King's Parents Were Adepts of the "Children of God" Cult
King opened up about her childhood during a 2021 virtual interview on "Dystopian Tonight with John Poveromo." The artist was born and raised in India, into the Children of God cult, where the children were only allowed to watch a certain number of "okayed" films.
Outside music was also completely forbidden. King and her siblings were expected to perform, as they knew how to sing, but they had no outside influences. Still, she sometimes managed to sneak out and hear the latest and most popular tunes of the times.
It was through those escapades that King became acquainted with Michael Jackson's music, which would become one of her main musical influences. She later moved with her parents to Ukraine and saw more of the world through their travels.
After she and her siblings formed KING, their earnings went toward supporting the cult, and sometimes they had 2 to 3 performances in a day. Despite their strict upbringing, King was rebellious and secretly engaged in everything she was forbidden from doing.
Whether it was makeup, dyeing her hair, or clubbing. Eventually, she encouraged her siblings to leave the COG and work for themselves. Her parents disapproved of their exit, but they signed their record deal anyway, abandoning their home and their two younger siblings.
Marieangela King Was Cher's Son's Wife
King was still in the band with her siblings when she fell for her ex-husband, Allman. The pair had met on a blind date in Germany following one of Allman's darkest periods when he battled Lyme disease. He had traveled to the country to receive treatment for his illness.
The two had only been engaged for a week when they eloped on December 1, 2013. They sealed their union in an intimate ceremony with their closest friends at their Beverly Hills home. Cher hadn't been invited and was allegedly infuriated that her son married King.
Allman's relationship with Cher had been on the rocks for years, and he didn't want to wait for her approval of his love for King. Still, he and his then-wife hoped she would come around and even wanted to give Cher grandchildren.
Shortly after their marriage was official, KING grew immensely popular thanks to their frontwoman's relation to Allman. Sadly, the couple filed for divorce in November 2021, citing irreconcilable differences. According to the legal documents, they separated in April 2020.
Marieangela King Is Now Building Here Solo Career
King regularly posts updates about her career progress on her Twitter and Instagram. The alternative pop singer released an album in August last year titled "Blue." Following its publication, King said it was the runner-up in the finals of the international singer-songwriters contest in the UK.
