Yardley Evans Brunt Is a 'Budding Feminist' - Facts about Megyn Kelly's Daughter
Yardley Evans Brunt is making her parents proud by already showing qualities of being self-assured. The youngster, who's only a few weeks shy of her 12th birthday, is curious and unafraid to ask her mom hard-hitting questions.
Yardley Evans Brunt is the middle child of esteemed news anchor Megyn Kelly and is one of three siblings. She has a loving relationship with her mother, as the former Fox correspondent frequently shares sweet little anecdotes about her growth.
Apart from having fun together as a family or as dates to school disco parties, the pair have had discussions about health and women's freedom of choice. Yardley, who's all about woman empowerment, candidly told her mom that she didn't see a prince in her future.
Yardley Evans Brunt Is Megyn Kelly's Only Daughter
Yardley was born on April 14, 2011, to Megyn and her husband, Douglas Brunt, weighing seven pounds and twelve ounces. Her birth made the news as Martha McCallum announced it on Megyn's former Fox show, "America Live," and sent well wishes to the then-new family of four.
Yardley arrived after her older brother, Edward Yates Brunt, who was born in September 2009. Her parents completed their family with her youngest brother, Thatcher, in July 2013. Four years after Thatcher was born, Yardley's mom left the Fox channel to focus more on her family.
Megyn had been with Fox for 13 years and felt the subject matter of politics had never been "true" to her soul. But, more than anything, she wanted to be more present in Yardley's and her brother's lives. She confessed she hadn't tucked her kids in on a weeknight in three years.
She moved on to NBC and began hosting her morning show, "Megyn Kelly Today." In 2018, Megyn and her husband chatted with US Weekly, where she joked that she felt unjustifiably mad when their kids chose him instead of her, as she explained:
"I'm mad when a child comes into the room in the middle of the night and they go to your side of the bed and not mine. I’m holding it against you."
Yardley Evans' Mom Decided to Take Her & Her Siblings Out of Private School
When Yardley graduated from elementary school in 2021, she had the full support of her family, especially her baby brother, Thatcher. As Megyn revealed in a sweet Instagram post, Thatcher broke out from a crowd celebrating the momentous day to go and hug his sister.
That same year, the mom of three took Yardley and her brothers out of the private school system. She explained her reasons during her appearance on "Real Time with Bill Maher," saying the schools prematurely implemented heavy social justice programs.
She felt her children were too young to comprehend racial injustice and the subject of transgender people, as they were only introduced to the topics in third grade (Edward) and kindergarten (Thatcher).
However, apart from experiencing such issues in her kids' education, Megyn still knows how to have fun with them. In 2019, she accompanied Yardley to her school's dance party as the pair donned their best '70s outfits.
Yardley Does Not Want to Marry a Prince
In 2018, Yardley's mother had to miss her recital because she was covering the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. After Megyn explained the reason for her absence, Yardley shared her opinion on marrying a prince, as her mom recounted:
"She says, 'That's her choice and that's hers to make, I'm not judging her choice, but it wouldn't be my choice.' So unfortunately I'm missing Yardley's recital, but I've also learned that I think I have a budding feminist in the house."
Last year, the two also had a conversation about anorexia. Megyn spoke about how she explained the eating disorder to Yardley using an analogy about a person who only saw themselves as a chicken (being fat), despite being—and others seeing them—as a human being (not fat).
